The Dell Crossword Dictionary: Completely Revised and Expanded (21st Century Reference)

I have had this dictionary for years, and just had to replace it, as it was used so much it was falling apart!! It is an amazing source of info for crossword puzzles, and I would tell anyone who does crosswords to try and purchase it.Unfortunatley tho, I could not find it available on Amazon.ca (Canada)

I love this crossword dictionary because it has separate categories for coins, all kinds of information about states .. nicknames, capitals, state flowers, etc., countries, gods and goddesses, Shakespeare, music terminology, elements, weights and measures, all types of animals, sports teams, US Presidents, etc. The list goes on. These are the pesky things you can't find in a regular crossword dictionary. This is the only crossword dictionary I have found like this, and I have searched far and wide. Recommend.

I received a copy of the Dell Crossword Dictionary several years ago as a gift and I used it so much that I completely wore it out. I had sections of it fastened together with elastic bands and other sections scotch taped as I was unable to find a replacement anywhere. Finally, it occurred to me that Amazon might have it. End of story.

Wayne Robert Williams must have spent many hours rearranging what I recall as my very favorite Dell Crossword Dictionary. It will take me many hours to become accustomed to this version. Hopefully it won't discourage my enthusiasm for crossword puzzles.

I do not like this book at all. Th previous Dell crossword book was much better. This one is difficult to use and find meanings. I will be purchasing the previous one. I have already had three and used them until they were in tatters. This one will remain in good shape for a long time.

I found this book to be extremely useful reference when solving crossword puzzles, especially when the question involved peoples names who were either semi-famous or relatively unknown. Also very useful with questions about US presidents and vp's. Overall, a very useful book and worth the cost.

This book is not what was advertised in the description. Make sure you read the full description both in the Title description and the full product description as well. I bought this product for my dad and in the title description it says it is a "21st Century Reference" and it even says that on the book,however, on arrival this product was the same exact book in which my father already had; which was the 1995 version.(We looked inside once we received it, and the last president inside this book was former President Clinton.) Yes, the book was in great shape, a lot better shape than my dad's book; so he decided to keep it. But, I think the pictures should be displayed what the books are, so the customers are not misled. In this case, I think that's what happened. I was both confused on this product, and mislead. In order to get the book you want, you have to read every piece of information about every book you see in order to be sure you are getting the book you need.

I have used previous editions and love this dictionary. So glad I could get this one.

good reference for American crosswords

It is not as useful as the one by Andrew Swanfeldt. This is more like a Thesaurus.

I purchased this as a replacement of the earlier version which got extremely worn and well used. Other crossword dictionaries may claim to have more, but I have found to be not as well organized and laid out.Excellent resource.
