I wanted a good reliable tool to check static and maximum timing on my Alfa using the marks on the front pulley (more accurate advance is set on a rolling road but it's good to have a safe starting point). It's a race car so the battery is not in the engine bay therefore having a self powered tool is really useful. It works perfectly straight out of the box (batteries included) and I used it outside. The light is not exactly blinding for outside use but good enough. It would be nice to have a case to put it in but at this price I'm not complaining too much. Generally I'm happy with the tool and if you're using one in the same way I'd be happy to recommend it.
