Helikon-TexGUNFIGHTER JACKET - SHARK SKIN WINDBLOCKER

I wear this every day, the good quality and fit I have come to expect from Helikon. I thought it might be loose like my Patriot fleece of the same size (which is basically the same garment but made from fleece instead of softshell) but it's not, it fits like a glove. One thing to note on both this and the Patriot the arms are quite long, that is fine and I like it but it's worth pointing out.Its not amazingly warm, but I get too hot anyway and in the recent cold weather (beast from the east) I added layers, a base layer, t-shirt and light fleece and the Gunfighter on top and I was plenty warm even at -4C.Plenty of pockets on the arms, good stitching all over, breast pockets only (no lower ones) stowable hood with adjuster, cable ports for comms and headphones and that unique lower back pouch which is bizarrely useful. There's an inside pocket - again looks like it would fit a TX or mobile.Neat jacket, looks and feels more expensive than it is.

I bought this jacket during the slightly adverse weather conditions of December 2013 / Jan 2013, and so it underwent the trials of snow, rain, occasional sun and high winds all in the period of about 2-3 weeks. It coped with all of them spectacularly! I was looking for an all-weather jacket primarily for Airsoft, but also for general everyday use. Since I usually just wear a tshirt as a base layer, my second layer is usually a jacket - if it's not sufficiently waterproof, windproof or thermal, it becomes a nuisance to put on a third layer which covers one of those failures. This soft shell is more than sufficient to cope with all of these things. It is extremely comfortable, highly breathable but warm, and waterproofing is second-to-none. My only bug-bear is that the zip was a bit stiff, bordering on convincing me it was slightly broken. But it has stood the test of time so far, and i am very impressed with it.Well worth the investment for all military, hiking, or other outdoor-going sorts - much better than the 5:11-type jackets.

Having purchased Helikon clothing previously (and being extremely satisfied with the quality, fit and finish) I determined to spend that little bit extra on this item as opposed to some of the cheaper alternatives available. I am glad that I did! I have found this soft shell jacket to be both extremely well designed, well made from quality materials and (dare I say it) very stylish. Make no mistake, this is a very high quality item of clothing that promises to live up to years of serious use.I should mention that the stock pictures do not do this jacket justice at all...much nicer in the flesh! The blurb recommends that you buy a size down but I ignored this - I am usually a Large (511" and about 14 stone 10lbs) and this is what I ordered... the fit is perfect.Highly recommended product.

Not tried it in the rain yet so will have to wait and see how it performs. As a practical jackets its going to be very useful. Only neg comment would be that the interior sleeves are not lined and the material is noticeable against the skin. For comfort I will wear a long sleeve top under it.

Excellent fit (I usually wear a sweatshirt when I use it and the fit is excellent. If you plan using it with just a tshirt bear in mind that it's slightly bigger than usual measures but nothing dramatic)I've used a couple of times as soon as I got it and it was excellent to wear on a windy and cold day.

Bought the jacket in which to try and compensate for my TRAX jacket which I ripped whilst out climbing. The jacket is everything I expect, however it is a tadge small when wearing a fleece and t shirt

I brought this for my cycling commute for the colder winter months. Initially i was pleased, the pit zips were particularly useful to stay an ambient temperature when i started to overheat and the jacket seemed to be nicely waterproof and warm. However after just a month of use it has started leaking at multiple points including the shoulders and the arms in even relatively light rain. As i am not a fan of arriving to work soggy I am looking for a new jacket... needless to say it won't be a Helikon!
