I didn't want something that would squash up under my neck. Yet, even as stiff as it is, it's comfortable in that area and stays put all night, despite my repositioning myself a bit. I read on my side until I fall asleep and I can't stand my head flopping back... I need neck support with my asthma to keep my breathing pipes are open. When my head and neck aren't supported, I sometimes can't breath. This pillow is awesome for that. I can breath and I feel comfortable. I plan on not doing without and this is the one I will be reordering. Another plus is that it's not two feet long. It's fairly short and that sure helps to keep it in the position you put it in at first.
