Over the years I have used a popular, and far more costly brand, but quality seems to have slipped some. I gave this unit a try and have not been disappointed. It appears to be very solid in its design and construction. The shock absorbing mechanism is superior to the competition, excellent. It is a bit heavier, but I didn’t take away a star because I relate the extra weight to extra quality.One odd thing to be aware of. You buy two canes for this price. As shown in the Amazon display page, you will receive a black cane and a blue cane. Since I occasionally need two canes for walking, this leaves the appearance that I’m using odd canes, not a matching pair. After talking with Amazon (They can’t control everything about their sources) and evaluating the quality, I solved the problem by buying a second set. Now I will have two sets, one black and the other blue.
