1pc 6X4 (top) to 6Z4 Vaccum tube adapter socket converter 6X4 TO 6Z4 HIFI Diy

The 6X4 tubes are plentiful as NOS in the USA. Manufacturers used these in just about everything. The 6Z4 tubes not so much. I was going to rewire the rectifier socket but when I saw this adapter I thought this would be much easier and keep the chassis original. So I purchased a couple of these. They took a little time to get here as they were sent directly from China. When they arrived I was all set to check the pin-out to make sure they were correct. When I opened the adapter package I was amazed at the build quality and how solid these were. I checked the pin conversation and all seemed good. I installed the 6X4 tube in the adapter then the adapter into the chassis. They work great. If the tube is hanging upside down you may want to lock them in. As I stated before these are quality adapters and there is some weight to them.

Wanting to replace the cheap 6z4 tube I found there were no other 6z4 tubes out there. These adapters allowed me to find many 6x4 tubes made by several popular tube manufacturers. I bought some NOS 1950 era tubes made in Sweden for $18 each which seemed to add more bottom end and make the overall tone a little fuller. This was a lot easier than trying to rewire the pin sockets to accommodate the available tubes.
