I didn't throw it in the water to see if it would float, or if it was water proof, as the salt water would more than likely damage what was inside and I don't need that. I have no doubt that it would keep items dry in splash like environments, or would float if required. Seems well made, thick plastic, my snaps are a bit off (there side ways) like the holes were drilled off a few degree's, but that doesn't stop me form using it, you just have to push them sideways a bit when you latch them. If something like that bothers you, look up the name brand and pay 4 times the price (again I know what to expect when I buy something like this). Color is nice, and worked as it should.
