It's more a commentary on our need to be flexible when traveling and presenting in various environments. I have walked 30-40 feet away from the laptop doing presentations, and had no issues with advancing my slides. I can't really imagine getting much further from the laptop and screen, and not losing my audience, so as far as I'm concerned, this has all the distance I'll ever need. I can't advise on the max distance, since I'll never go looking for those limits, but it's lots further than 40 feet. Lastly, this is a very pleasant device to hold and use, in an ergonomic sense. It is extremely well-designed for the human hand, and I would say for any size of human hand. Many of these I've owned and used as loaners from various venues are straight tube shapes, cylindrical, longer than necessary, slightly unwieldy and awkward feeling in your hand. It did work for some previous Mac OS...** A: I got this for a 2010 MacBook running Mavericks and it works perfectly. When you get the keyboard detection window you just close it, the window even says it can be skipped if you're not trying to hook up a keyboard. Then go into keyboard settings for Keynote and map Start Presentation to F5 and the start button will work perfectly as well. **Q: is this compatible with my MacBook laptop computer** A: This Remote is compatible with new MacBook Pro's, using USB-C, when used with a USB adapter. I had a different (much cheaper) wireless remote that did NOT work when adapted to USBC. 2017 Model MacBook Pro, running Sierra **Q: Do you know if R400 works for google docs (presentation)?** A: Left/right and screen blank work natively on Google Slides, on ChromeOS, running from Chrome browser. I’ve used a lot of “it’ll do” tech over the years, and the Logitech R800 feels like a legit, durable tool rather than disposable plastic. Range and reliability: In 100+ seat auditoriums, the USB receiver holds a stable connection, and the range is more than enough for walking the room, stepping into aisles, and teaching from the back without missed slide advances. Laser visibility: The green laser is easy to see on most projection surfaces and shows up well even for students sitting far back. It’s been consistently visible for both younger and older eyes. Timer = real-world helpful: The built-in timer is a surprisingly useful backup. Many classrooms either don’t have an obvious clock or it’s behind you, and the timer keeps you from doing the “lecture drift” where a 2-minute concept becomes a 12-minute side quest. Size and “don’t lose it” factor: It’s the right size for a pocket and comfortable in-hand, but not so tiny it disappears into the shadow realm of lecture clutter.
