Afternoon Tea

I purchased this book for a friend's child whose language is not English. Despite the fact that the recipes are word-heavy, the pictures are beautiful and my friend wrote back immediately that her child wanted to make some sandwiches with her (my friend does speak English). Afternoon Tea evokes a lovely, leisurely world in which friends gather and enjoy treats together.

This is a wonderful book of recipes and ideas for any and all types of afternoon teas. I have used it over and over and I love it!

Beautiful pictures and clear directions. The vast majority of these recipes have affordable, easy to find ingredients, and look quite tasty!

I wish I had read all the reviews before purchasing this book. Like two other reviewers, I expected more. The cover was inviting, but inside there was little to look at in the way of table settings, and the recipes included were rather standard tea fare unless this is your first tea book. Had I seen it first in a bookstore or been able to look at some of the pages on-line, I would have chosen another. It is fine if you are just beginning to do teas, but it doesn't offer anything unusual to the mix for a person who has been doing teas for years. Disappointing for me, but recipes were fine - what were there.

nice large book full of recipes and photos. I have enjoyed reading through it and tyring out the recipes.

I loved this book. It has many varied and interesting recipes. It is my favorite Tea book of all that I own

This is a small, pretty coffee table book that I love to bring out for my tea parties. Just fun to flip through once in awhile and get ideas for teas.

One reviewer has referred to this book as being "thin", but what it might lack in length it more than makes up for in quality both of recipes and photography. This is the first book I refer to for afternoon tea recipe inspiration ... the lemon drizzle cake is wonderful, as are the baby cheese scones, which are smaller than the photo would indicate, and are a delicious alternative to sweet scones (well, you could serve both of course!) I also have Susannah Blake's Afternoon Tea Parties (wonderful photography again by martin Brigdale.) Both are truly inspirational.

紅茶の時間を楽しむためのレシピブックです。見開きで、片方に素敵な写真、反対側にレシピや提供するときのポイント、アレンジの例などが書かれています。 素材の選び方が日本人の私には無い感じのところが、買って良かったという点です。 例えば、プロシュートとフレッシュなイチジクのサンドイッチとか、ビクトリアスポンジケーキにクリームとフレッシュな苺を挟むとか、小さなパンケーキにワサビクリームとキャビアをのせるとか。 レシピは、カップや計量スプーンで測って作るものなので、手軽ですが、作るたびに感じが違うというタイプです。 料理が好きで、好みの味をしっかり把握してらっしゃる方が、参考に作るならいいかと思います。 アフタヌーンティーとという題名ですが、このレシピ本のレシピでアフタヌーンティーをすると、ものすごい高カロリーになるかと。 写真にうつっているお皿や茶器などもきれいで楽しめます。

Beautiful book with lovely simple ideas

These are straightforward recipes, not too complicated and with much wow factor. Although I did read the Chelsea Bun recipe too quickly and forgot to let it raise a second time... My husband still ate them and thought they were delicious...
