**Q: Is this truly waterproof? What is the backing like?**
A: Yes it is.  Both sides are made of waterproof material, and wet sand and water just shake right off

**Q: 50 x 71 or 59 x 71?   The description says both in different places in this listing**
A: It cracked and had holes. I sent it back

**Q: Is this good enough to lay on weeds/stickers and easy to clean from them?**
A: I don't know about stickers but you can lay it on weeds. It's very easy to clean, I have actually sprayed mine with a garden hose.

**Q: Is this machine washable?**
A: I never used the washing machine to clean it, I just cleaned it with the garden hose..

For two of us, this ended up providing plenty of room for a picnic spot, enough to even lay down and rest. The slick plastic does a great job of not picking up much off the ground (even in a high-traffic grassy area) and then being really easy to clean by just shaking. It's a bit like folding up a paper map, so it might take some practice to do it fast, but it does fold down to a very convenient size that is then secured by velcro, makes it very easy to carry around. We keep it in the original plastic packaging for another layer of separation, that, and the fact that the mat itself stays relatively clean, makes it feasible to put right next to anything else you might wish to keep clearn in a carrying bag. The pattern is distinct enough that you can use it in a large festival or gathering and easily find your spot.

I love how this is totally waterproof so its really great for picnics, however the material is a little rough and not that comfortable for sitting on.
