CERWIN-VEGA! XED650C 6.5" 300W 2-Way Car Audio Component Speakers 4Ω

portable DIY Bluetooth boombox 18"x7.5"x5" to run off & charge 18V drill batteries.. Total cost of speakers, amp, battery charger and .5" plywood is about $80. The benefit of these speakers vs. coaxials is they have no gaps anywhere .. hence NO air leaks.. The dimension of the box is as small as these speakers allow however to feel the bass gotta have 6" dual passive radiators on the rear. The radiators have steel plates in the center so they don't deform (made of rubber) .. so they have to be far enough from the speaker magnets to avoid 'sticking' to the magnets :) Not fan of loud music .. but this 6.5" component setup is the smallest I found to sound best at medium to low volume with full sound and deep base (these speakers are 60hz-18Hhz ... however with rear radiators I'm getting about 45hz out of this tiny boombox. Fill the empty space inside the box with dense foam to increase the air pressure on the passive radiators .. Modify the battery power supply: add the side plug and 14v automotive relay to switch amp power from the battery to the power supply so the boombox can play without a battery OR if the battery is present the battery is strictly in charge mode while the boombox is playing music. So far the boombox will play about 12hrs on 3AH battery .. not bad at all.

Mounted in 95 Chevy Tahoe. Need Metra trim rings since the factory speakers have the trim ring built into the speaker and cannot be used for new speakers. The Metra trim rings will need simple modification to make work. Sounded great and the price was right

Slight improvement in clarity over stock speakers, but still worth it in my option. Installed left side first (Beginning of video) to compare to right side stock speakers. You can hear the difference in the video when switched from left to right. Once all speakers installed, the sound is much better over stock - with no amplifier. Overall, a good buy if you not looking to spend too much money.

Don't expect to much out of them Other than frequency. Didn't know when they gave out. Estimated 6 months tops for life expectancy.

Well i tested these in a bookshelf speaker box , with a ayima amp , the amp says it makes 75 at 4 ohms with the supplied wall plug but i think its more like 20 , any who , theze performed better than i thought for 30 , they would pair well on a 30 or 50 maybe 75 rms amp with high pass at 200 maybe , if wanting a high volume , definitely need some subs but if ya got a factory premium car or regular im sure these would integrate in the factory amp or head unit and sound better than WHATEVER paper crap was equipped. The tweeters seem to be same frequency range as many factory premium setups so great for budget build or replacement of damaged factory components if looking to restore sound quality and not end up in the sound junkie cycle , ex : new speaker, not loud enough so: new amp , bigger rewire , subs , better speakers , new head unit , bigger / additional amps , even better speakers , custom enclosures Lexan glass replacement , rims , lights , turbo kit , divorce, etc

I've always loved Cerwin Vega subs so I figured I'd try the mids and highs and for the price they sound pretty good. I have an amp powering them but they seam pretty efficient so they may be ok off just the head unit.

Terrible speakers. I bought 2 pair for Christmas and just got around to installing them. They sound terrible, muffled and rattle to the point to where I just turn my radio off, almost like they are blown. I should have just kept my old stock speakers in my truck. At least they sounded better. I would not recommend buying these. Maybe they're just a bad set, I bought 2 pair for my wife a few years ago and they sound amazing till this day. But these are just terrible. Don't waste your money.

Speakers look very well made and large diamiter voice coil with well designed reinforced suspension that gives great midbass performance the tweeters produce clean clear highs that dont sound harsh and arent directional like many tweeters they arent hard to place especially if you have factory tweeters in your vehicle these come with everything you need even the crossover units are well made with very good quality components plenty of wire for tweeters to be located ware you need (factory locations in my 06 santa fe were no trubble and look factory) these sound great on their own (choose a good radio it does make a big difference im running a pioneer dvd headunit) subwoofers when set correctly compliment these perfectly very pleased with quality and sound cerwin vega still got the magic even in their car audio gear (update: speakers sound great if you have a 2001-2006 Hyundai santa fe these are perfect the cross overs mounting points match 2 scew holes on door panels will need modifications to swap from factory tweeters to the ones in this kit but fit perfectly in factory locations very happy with the speakers)

Fitted to my Suzuki Grand Vitara to upgrade the factory speakers , reality is i got what i paid for , whilst they are an improvement over the factory speakers but they do sound cheap , bass is not really great and the tweeters have a tinny sound to them.

My intended use for this product is not in a automobile environment but into a retro arcade build with that extra added bonus of high end audio. Keep in mind these are component systems so good placement is key to having a good sounding product. The sound out of these stock without filtering is very good the sound is clear and not muffled because of the directional tweeters and the nicely tuned cross overs included. For a good sound in a custom build as in my case I've made sure to do some calculations on volume of the sound chambers for the arcade unit and port holes. So if you have trouble make sure you actually do some math to determine the volume of enclosure and or port size.
