I have humidity sensors in other areas of the house and they generally agree with what the unit says -- humidity is expected to be higher right at the unit. Buying distilled water is both expensive and inconvenient.** A: Directions suggest distilled water but I'm using plain tap. I bought this as there is a cleaning filter to help reduce the impurities. Quiet, good humidity level, and low nightlight. The remote works right out of the box. Assembly is quick. I like that I can refill through the sides of the lid instead of needing to take it off. I haven't used the aroma box so can't rate it. I do have a few issues with their instructions on use and cleaning. They say to use distilled water, not tap, and to clean every three days. I bought a humidifier with a filter to be able to use tap water and not have to buy distilled. I also clean weekly. (These instructions are why I took a star off). So far this is fine. I've not had any scaling. Also note the water intake valve does come apart for cleaning. I wish this was shown in the instructions.
