Deliver to Vietnam

For Sergeant Adam Schumann (Miles Teller)—and many soldiers like him—the process of leaving combat back in Iraq was as seemingly simple as getting on that plane. But standing on the tarmac again in the arms of loved ones would turn out to be merely a first step in the long and exacting journey of actually returning home. Thank You for Your Service follows a group of U.S. soldiers returning from Iraq who struggle to integrate back into family and civilian life while living with the memory of a war that threatens to destroy them long after they've left the battlefield.

Who is really responsible for the medical after care of our veterans fighting to keep America a free and the greatest country in
I love Miles Teller. I also became very involved in the story line immediately. This is an action filled emotional storyline that is both relatable and clear as to our current culture. Although politics is not the main story line there is a "backstory" that gives you a feel of the political consequences in dealing with the military upon return "from serving our country". It is a story of survival, PTSD and an understanding of after care of the veterans in this free world. I got sucked in the storyline immediately. I cried and then found myself very angry and embarrassed at the treatment of veterans returning home. My opinion over all of the military and the after care once they return home shocked me. In the end I was thinking this is only a movie. As the movie concluded, I learned it was based on a true story. Peter Berg produced this quality film. If you are or know of someone that has served in the military this is a must see film. If you watch it once, you will want to watch it again. I did not wantthe story to end. I hope there is a better conclusion to this story. Our veterans fight for our freedom but after their completion of serving our country they are forgotten. The medical care is not in line with the importance of taking care of the people that fight for our freedom and come home and have to battle the "new abnormal world" in which they return.

Compassion for Veterans
I am not a fan of war movies or the military. But I bought this video to further my understanding of veterans and what they endure upon returning to civilian life and to that end I was deeply affected. Even among those of us who may question our country’s sometimes jingoistic or even imperalistic motives, we still owe a debt to the soldiers who serve. They are not responsible for our foreign policies or the decisions of our democratically elected leaders. They may choose to put themselves in harm’s way when they go to war but they do not choose the psychological or physical problems they have upon returning home or the difficulties they have in readjusting to civilian life. Even when we oppose military interventions, we have a responsibility to our veterans to aide them in their healing. Their wounds, both psychological and physical, will continue to have ramifications that radiate out into society and shame as all for not giving returnees the assistance they need. This film deserves a wider audience than just among those who find glory in beating the drums of war. For it is not about justifying the bravado of soldiers or the blitherings of war-hawks, but rather about helping veterans to regain their compromised humanitity.

Realistic and Tragic
Excellent movie! When my mother came back from Iraq she had a lot of side-effects from experiments done by the military and mental issues. It was hard and took years to get her any help. 2 years ago (she came back in 2004) she finally got treatment for something the military caused and that same year she finally got a regular therapist and medication. I have known too many soldiers that have taken their life or the life of others because they couldn't receive help and, though my mother had serious mental issues prior to joining the army, they still took her and made them worse. I think they did a great job expressing how awful it is coming back from war and how you fought for someone and most of the time that someone won't fight for you. I think anyone who has questions or wants to see what happens when troops come home should see this movie. Just my two cents.

This movie shows the other half of the war
My Dad fought his war a little differently than these guys, but overtime I've learned to recognize some of the things that he has to deal with because of it. He was blessed not to have it as bad but every now and again there are little moments where the results of his inner struggles come out. He rarely ever talks about it, but among those struggles is the feeling of not having been able to do enough for the folks he was watching over. I think that this movie portrays that particular struggle pretty well, and it touches on how universal, devastating and burdensome it can be. I'll never really know how much pain he has lived through and will live with the rest of his life; veterans tend to carry their burdens quitely with their heads down if they can. But I will be eternally grateful that he chose to stay. He chooses now to stay. And he lives his life believing that he will stay for us and everyone around him. Thank you veterans for choosing to stay. God knows that fight must be a hell of lot harder than the one overseas. Thank you all for still being here, and for choosing to show up every day. Please don't leave us yet. Choose to stay, God bless you all.

Wonderful movie. Would recommend to both military and non military to create awareness for the struggles soldiers face on the home front. Sadly, there are many equivalent stories.
