i've been using shea butter for many years. started with a wonderful shea butter by l'occitane, it is organic, very easy to spread, feels luxurious and very expensive. unfortunately, it is also very refined, which imho defeats the purpose of natural cosmetic ingredient. after a lot of search, i began using raw, organic shea butter. it was rather difficult to spread, best used for making home-made lotions and potions. when it was time to replenish my supply, i searched amazon and found this yellow shea butter. i have never used yellow shea butter, so i was intrigued. a quick search showed that yellow shea butter is made from the karite nuts and borututu tree root is added d during the milling process. there is some evidence that borututu root helps with liver function. not sure if it helps when used in shea butter, applied externally. having said that, this particular product is amazing. i love the sweat, nutty smell. i am very sensitive to smells, but this smell is rather soft, not overpowering. unlike white/off-white shea butter i used previously, which was solid and difficult to separate, this yellow shea butter crumbles easy, so you can take as much or as little as you need. i put some shea butter into a small jar for daily use. the rest is in a fridge, in a zip-lock bag (kindly provided by the seller). this butter melts almost instantly, as soon as it touches your skin (no heating required). it absorbs nicely, leaving behind slight shimmer and the softest skin. i cannot stop touching my hands. the price for this raw, unrefined, organic shea butter is unbeatable. 1lb is a lot of butter to use as is, or to experiment with home-made salve, balm, deodorant, lip gloss, eye cream, etc hope everyone enjoys it as much as i do. thank you a wonderful seller for a quick delivery of a great product.

I'm new to pure unrefined shea butter so I may not be the best judge, but I think this stuff is pretty good and a good value. It smells fresh and somewhat nutty. It's goldish-yellow. It's a bit soft at room temperature, so I refrigerate the brick and keep a small cube in a plastic bag in the bathroom, replenishing it every few days. I'm not melting this to make anything -- I'm using it as a hand creme and facial emollient, first breaking off a very small bit and rubbing it between my palms till it liquefies. A little goes a long way. It's greasy and oily at first, and takes time to be absorbed into the skin; you may still have to dab with a tissue. Not for daytime use on your face. My hands and nails look a bit better, and the skin around my mouth seems slightly less dry. Not a miracle by any means but still, decent results. And without additives.

Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. I want to preface my review noting that this is the first time I have purchased shea butter-used for the purpose of making lotions, salves, and lip balms. The package arrived promptly with the product wrapped in cling-wrap in the shape of a brick inside of a blue waxed paper bag. Opening the package, there is a slight nutty odor. The product is soft and crumbles to the touch. After removing a portion to use, it was a bit messy getting the shea butter brick wrapped up nicely with the cling-wrap. The product melted easily and mostly evenly in a double boiler with little stirring. The product also set-up nicely mixed with other natural ingredients upon cooling. My only minor issue is that the nutty aroma was still present in my completed products despite the generous use of essential oils-but not a deal-breaker by any means. On the whole, I would recommend this product to others and would purchase again.

I am so glad I found this product. I have or I used to have very dry skin due to diabetes. After my shower while still warm and damp I put some in my hand to warm it up and rub everywhere needed I no longer need lotion or any other moisturizer. I swear by this excellent product

Smells fresh and nutty! Like fresher than the ones I buy in a little plastic container. Looks a gorgeous golden yellow color. And I love the cute royal blue packaging it comes in. So cute! The shea butter is in a bag inside the blue outer bag and they include a ziplock bag for resealing after you open the bag it comes in.

if you don't mind the color - it's a great butter. I use it make lotions and have purchased this brand in the past. I've never had a problem with the quality

I looove this! Some of the Shea butter I have ordered were questionably, this product however was nice and smooth and looks like good quality Shea. The packaging looks top notch quality too. I have order the beeswax from this line as well and it was great too!

This is the strongest shea butter I have ever smelt. It is an extreme of the smokey scent that it can have as opposed to the nice nutty scent. I was so excited to get this to use in the lotion bars I am making but will not be able to now. Topping off the disappointment, I only got 13 of the 16 ounces. 😕
