We just installed a new propane boiler in our cellar. Our 25 year old boiler had seen better days. Since propane is cheaper and a propane boiler was cheaper, we changed from oil to propane. Since the boiler is in the cellar, I would not smell the foul odor of propane until the cellar filled up with gas. Therefore, I ordered these gas detectors. A word to the wise..... To detect propane, the device must be placed under three feet from the floor as propane is a heavy gas. Other gases are lighter and need to be placed near the ceiling. Soooooo...... I actually do not know if this device works and I hope I never do.....

One of the two detectors in the package does not work. It just gives an error message. The 2nd detector works great. I plugged it in near my propane range and turned on the gas just a little - it detected the gase and went off in about 30 seconds when flame is not lit. Have not had any false alarms in ~3 months of use.

This device is cheap insurance and could save lives.

Nice to have this safety feature in the kitchen near the propane stove. Before I installed these we had some close calls with accidentally bumping gas controls and smelling gas was not nice and frightening. The devices have worked great and we caught a leak early with the monitor going off to alert us!
