Very nicely constructed heater. Be advised it is Less heat output than the 'hi-hat' types but far more visually appealing. If you really need the max heat vs. a nice rounded experience and conversation piece than pass. Embossed design on the flat panels give it the appearance of ghost flames so nicer than others with plain flat panels. Glass tube is larger diameter than previous models and makes the flames even nicer. Takes about an hour to assemble which includes looking at the directions. Be sure to at least read the first few pages of the instructions as the first parts of the frame can be assembled upside down if not careful. If you see similar units at outdoor bars or decks this is much nicer as those are likely the smaller diameter tubes. If you need to relocate the heater, I suggest taking the propane tank out first. Very happy with it.

I use this mostly for looks when hanging out, and just to take the chill out when needed. It is quiet, doesn't use lots of propane, and looks amazing when lit, even on low. It lights easily with the electronic ignition, and you don't have to hear the loud pop that the mechanical ones do. It also is not nearly as tippy as the other common design patio heater, it's very stable by design. You don't have to worry about kids touching the wire guard and burning themselves, because it's not too hot at the bottom. I will say that it's probably more decorative than functional; if you need maximum heat there are other options out there, but everything is a compromise. I absolutely love this heater, it's nice just to sit around it. It's kinda like sitting around a campfire or a good fireplace. If you want a really cool accent to sit around that doesn't require any wood or smoke, I don't think you can do any better than this right here.

Very stylish and sharp design. Doesn’t seem to throw down as much heat as a typical dome heater, but the product is certainly a conversation piece.

You will first notice the high quality when you open the box. Everything well packaged and labeled. The instructions are in a full-sized glossy booklet, large enough to read, not the typical tiny print on rough paper. I bought two and assembling the second was decidedly easier and faster than the first. The first took well over an hour and the second well under an hour. There is a YouTube video if you find that helps. Everything can be easily assembled with the tools included, a screwdriver and wrench, except that you’ll need scissors or a sharp knife to open the packaging. An electric screwdriver would help but is not necessary. East Oak’s customer support is exceptionally responsive and when I couldn’t find one screw, they gladly supplied another. There’s a three-year extended warranty - if you register for it on East Oak’s website. Hints: Assemble everything on a surface where it will be easy to find dropped screws. I’m glad I did. Be careful, some of the edges are sharp – even the shipping cardboard. Some of the assembly is easier in a slightly different sequence. For example, I highly recommend doing Step 3.3 as you’re doing Step 3.1 – screwing the parts together rather than letting them simply fall apart. I chose to skip Step 1, to leave off the “14. Ground Fixtures” as my heaters sit on a hard tile floor with nowhere to screw into the ground. The heaters just sit on their rubber feet. The first time you use a new propane tank, you keep the gas knob pushed in for 60+ seconds for gas to make its way through the empty tubing during which time you might not hear or smell anything. I mistakenly thought it wasn’t working the first time. It is not sufficient to just rotate the knob.

Assembly was fairly straightforward but it took over an hour. Unfortunately after spending that time assembling the size of the flame was half of what the photo shows and it wasn’t anywhere near 48,000 btu’s. I changed full propane tanks and got the same result with the second tank. I tried to contact East Oak. No reply to either my email or my phone call in a week. Amazon customer service was very responsive to my call and provided a full refund without any hassle. Thank you Amazon!

The unit it self is nice the 1 time we used it. The glass tube ended up getting broken and did not realize it's not a common size after buying a replace on Amazon that is 4" diameter and the unit uses 5" which I can not find anywhere. Emailed east oak support to be told they are going to start selling parts on there web site in approx 2 to 3 weeks. Asked if there was a way to get it any sooner then was told it will be 2 or 3 weeks as they need to replenish there stock. Tried calling and left a message got no call back. Emailed again and the response was they put the new email in with the claim number of the old email and did not answer any of the questions I had in that email. So on customer service and the lack of availability of replacement parts would do a little more research and pick a different unit. Which other reviews I read said great support by the company that's one reason I went with east oak. UPDATE: After posting this review I was emailed by a supervisor who did apologize and actually sent me a new glass tube for my heater at no cost which I am very appreciative for. The unfortunate part is that it only happened after posting my review. Hopefully what they told me about being able to purchase parts on there web site or Amazon is true.

I would have given this heater a 5 start review. It went together very easily (as long as you follow the instructions of course) and started right up after I leak tested it. Now the reason I am not rating this 5 stars is color. The main reason we bought this one is the photo's appear to show a white set of bases. My wife is quite sensitive to color, being an artist, and really for sure did not want black and was not really happy with all the other shiny silver/stainless steal ones on amazon. Low and behold we see this picture and think wow white... buy it!! Of course after I get it assembled (the last steps are to put on the bottom panels) I find it is silver. Looking very closely at the pictures I can see it was in a room being photo'ed with a bright white back-drop so it looked white :-( It is lovely with the rippled sides and we will test it out the next few weeks here in Florida, but I am quite disappointed that I was fooled into thinking I had snagged a white heater ... we probably would have bought this one anyway from all the choices, I just would have liked to know that it *was not* white!!

They have incredible customer service.Even now, a couple of years later. Absolutely amazing I highly recommend this product. I have needed a few replacement parts.Even after all this time, because its literally feet from the ocean and neglected it a bit. update, blew over tube broke, burner unit broke. both replaced!!!!! Incredible customer service. Putting together first seemed difficult with lots of parts, but it was simple, only appeared difficult. Looks to be material that wont rust oceanside, I will post if it starts to rust or .... I did put a cover, from amazon, on it for protection when not in use. Can be screwed into floor so it does not tip over in the wind, however its heavy with a full tank of gas, and has not tipped in strong winds. IF it does it will break glass tube, so careful!
