Simpley the best
As odd as it may sound, I have become an accidental expert in storageware. It is an expertise gained from upwards of 30 years living in the rain forest where we have to worry about opppressive humidity year round, insects of all sorts, old and fungus. I shudder to think about what I have spent to reach this level of expertise, the lost food, and hundreds if not thousands of dollars spent on containers which claimed to be airtight, but weren't. I have tried them all. Recently I watched a video on Amazon which ranked the available storageware by "good, better, best" and I have to disagree with their conclusion. At one point oXO was the best, but not any more. OXO used t be made of a thick acrylic. The material is now thinner, as is the rim. It depends on suction to keep an airtight seal. Because the rim is thinner it does not offer the protection it used to, and the seal gets less good with use. In addition, after years of hand washing and use in a hot environment, it has yellowed and crazed. The Rubbermaid Brilliance which I have had for several years is still as clear as glass even though it has been through a dishwasher many times, and the seal is still good, actually airtight and leakproof. In addition it offers something of aa vacuum seal. After you close it a light piush on the lid expels excess air and creates a stronger vacuum seal. That not only keeps bugs and humidity out, it keeps food fresh longer. I also like Snapware and lock and lock, but they are not as good. They do seal well but do not look as nice, do not stack as well (to make the best use of poantry space) and they aree not crystal clear like Rubbermaid brilliance. I do use Snapware for storing lage amounts of flour, because Rubbermaid does not offer containers with the capacit to practically store a 50 lb bag of flour, and it would be very costly. If they did offer 40-50 cup capacity containers at a competitive price it would be the clear choice. Tupperware, where it all started, is adequate. It is not airtight, not a vacuum seal and not clear, but it is affordable.... in a sense. If you wind up throwing away food because the seal was not good enough it is not a great deal. I could, in fact, rate/ review another half dozen brands but at this point I am replacing most of them with Rubbermaid Brilliance and a few large Snapware contsainers for flour. What is most surprising to me is that my husband did not balk at my buying this set (even though we have 2 cabinets devoted to storageware) and instead asked me if he would use a few to put pasta away. At the current pricew this set is a great deal and I am tempted to buy a second, but we really do have everything appropriately stored now. I will be donating a lot of containers and using some ems which not no absolutely need a vacuum seal. For food, there is nothing better. It does cost more, but is worth it (from one who has thrown away everything in our cabinets more than once because of pantry bug invasions).

Recommended sizes and comparisons to other brands
I rely heavily on reviews and thought Iโd share mine so others can avoid spending a week researching brands/sizes to buy for pantry reorganizing! Brilliance vs. OXO: Iโve had both and I prefer Brilliance by FAR. OXO is a pain to wash and the seal was terrible. OXO was a contributing factor to The Great Pantry Moth Invasion of 2016, which I barely survived. Believe me, they are not air tight even when being careful to keep the seal clean. As far as appearance goes, I prefer the cleaner, sleek look of Brilliance over OXO which look clunky by comparison. Brilliance vs. glass: So, I love glass containers and have had them, still have a few. I use mostly the pint size wide mouth Mason jars for leftovers in my fridge, along with the Country Kitchen lids sold here on amazon. I have other larger jars but find they use more space than Brilliance, and they are rough on my hands which now have early onset arthritis. The glass ones are heavy and thatโs a problem for me. So Brilliance wins! Brilliance vs. ME.FAN: The plastic off-gas from ME.FAN is so strong I canโt imagine ever using those containers for anything edible. Seriously, I canโt stress how badly they smell of plastic, it would ruin your food, not to mention your health. The ones I bought along with the Brilliance are going to be returned immediately to amazon. No odor at all from Brilliance. Best sizes: I included a photo of some of my Pasta now in Brilliance containers, youโll need the 16 cup size for large pastas like the Large Shells in the pic, also if you keep large amounts of a particular type, get the 16 cup. Thereโs about 3 or 4 lbs of elbows in the other large container. The medium size 4.7 cup size is good only for partial or half boxes, the 7.8 cup container (I think itโs the brown sugar size) is really the most useful size for random small sized pastas. Iโve got 1 lb. of Orzo (one box) in the 7.8 cup, and a box of Penne in the other 7.8. This is also the best size for a bag of cornmeal, and most of my pantry items and Iโll be buying more from open stock. The spaghetti boxes are super tall and donโt fit on the shelf in my photo, but I have another place for them. I thought Iโd use those containers for most pastas but theyโre so tall I prefer the 16 cup and 7.8 sizes. The cereal container is MAGIC. It easily holds one bag from the ginormous box from Costco, those boxes contain 2 bags so if you want to store the entire Costco box of cereal youโll need 2 Brilliance cereal containers. Love it! The flour size container perfectly holds a 5 lb bag of flour, and the sugar container is a really useful size for crackers, etc. as well as sugar. Note: Confectionerโs sugar is larger by volume than brown sugar, so you need a larger container to hold a full box. I have three pounds of confectionerโs sugar which I placed in the full size sugar container, thereโs still some room but for the 3 lbs I had, I could not go smaller and get it all to fit. The flatter shaped containers work best for fridge storage, I think. I bought a few stainless steel scoops to hang in the pantry for easy use getting the items out. You donโt really need them but you need to keep the seal from getting food on it or it wonโt maintain the seal as well. 6.6 cup tall container is good for Twizzlers! Cons: Brilliance can scratch if you drop it on a stone counter. I canโt even see the scratches once I filled it, it wasnโt bad so Iโm ok with it. I dropped 3 empty containers on my wood floor and was terrified.... but not only did they not break, they didnโt even scratch!

Long lasting and durable with daily use
I have ordered 5 different sets between 2020 and 2024. They've held up well, with the exception of 2 lids that have cracked beginning in the center of the lid. One lid has a corner completely broken off. All I can say about the lids is that they can fit ridiculously tight and nearly requires a man of steel to free the lid from the base. But, if you're looking for air tight, tight fitting lids, these are great. The snap on handles are still working perfectly. The rubber gaskets have held up well. I always put them on the top rack of the dishwasher, they do collect a lot of water, mess around with the positioning and you'll get less water hanging out behind the gasket. Mine get daily use, they have been, and still are, my go-to container. I use these for everything from my dry pasta, sugars, flour, rice, etc. to leftovers in the fridge. I know they are pricier than some others, but I believe they're completely worth every dollar. As stated, some of what I have are 5 years old, that's impressive nowadays. Wondering now if there are replacement lids available?

Took me a long time to decide whether I really want a set of the brilliance containers. I love them and itโs airtight to hold grains, flour and sugar. Great products

Came as a bad fake copy with broken handles on some of the containers.

I bought two sets of Brilliance food storage containers to organize the overflowing pantry in our new home. Buying sets was a better deal than buying multiples of a few sizes, but if the individual pieces had been a better price I would have preferred going that route. It would be nice to open my pantry and see rows of the same sized containers. That said, I have used all of the sizes I did get and can now easily find what I'm looking for. I did find that filling flour to the top and then closing the lid makes some of the flour fly out of the tiny holes under the lid locks. Not a big deal. These are definitely air tight, sturdy, and very attractive. They arrived on time, packaged nicely, and in perfect condition. I'm so happy with my purchase, I'm considering buying more.
