You get what you pay for
I replaced my old fence tester with this. Half the price, half the features. I wish I'd spent more and got one that measured the strength of the charge in the fence. There's nothing wrong with this tester, it's just not as good as the more expensive models

hotline energisers seem to be on a timer to fail after a year or two
had 3 in a row that die after a year or two - trying a new brand this time
