The so called adhesive on the gasket itself is non existent. I glued the gasket on with the silicone and it's been awesome. **Q: Can I use this to seal car transmission gasket?** A: No **Q: Ok for fire pit for grilling food?** A: I used it on my smoker **Q: Will this work to seal the chimney on a grill/smoker?** A: Yes. I used it for mine. Actually I sealed every gap on my smoker with it and it’s been almost a year and never had an issue.
