Great product
This is a great product that was gotten as a gift for someone else they were dissatisfied that it was the incorrect grit. It worked beautifully for me would definitely purchase again.

Great Natural Stone
The media could not be loaded. I am a professional sharpener and I work mostly with stones. I kept seeing this one and finally decided to try it and im glad I did. In the video your seeing me use it for the first time to hone a burr off a hybrid japanese knife. when used correctly this is a great stone. The only con is its a little narrow just little wider with more face area would be perfect. I would give it 9/10 rating. Here is some info from my use and tests:-it builds a nice creamy slurry-its about 2500-3000 grit-It came in at about 3.5-4 on the Mohs scale after testing it-It puts a slightly polished toothy edge on knives thats perfect for just about anything.-you dont need to soak it, just splash some water on it through out your sharpening. To use it correctly splash some water on it and use an appropriate nagura stone one thats about 3000 grit and build up a good amount of mud or slurry before you start this will help you in the sharpening process.

mystery grit?
when I bought this stone the listing had it as 800 grit, now that I am back to review, it has changed to 3000 grit. the listing also has no info on the particular type of stone or where it was sourced making it impossible to go find more Information. I would estimate between 3000 and 4000. despite all this, at ~20 dollars, it is still a fantastic buy. natural stones can be super expensive. this one is large, perfectly flat and hard wearing. it puts a great edge on my kitchen knives. it does sharpen slowly though, particularly if you are used to synthetics. only buy if you already own a courser stone.

Good for simple
My experience tell me this stone was slow cut steel ( slow sharpening ) need a little experience to use it.If you're new I would not recommend it. I recommend to buy.1. Shapton kuromaku cut fast no need soak just put splash water on top and go.2. Naniwa chosera cut medium it expensive but great performance.3. King stone cheap but good for begining.Enjoy sharpening.

Good Stones, Chipped on Shipment
I enjoy these stones more than the cheap ceramics they're replacing. Not sure if they're more tactile, or if the noise is different, but I feel like I have more feedback from the process. Now, I ordered a 1000 and 3000 and both came with chips, but I still had a good side on both. Now, to be fair, Amazon has chipped every single sharpening stone I've ever purchased, so I don't know how much I should fault the vendor.Note: even though the pic suggests submerging the stone, the instructions say otherwise, so don't soak. They only require water enough to keep the top moist while sharpening. Also, they absorb a good bit of water, so after applying water a few times (or one good dunk) they tend to stay wet.

Strong
This feels like real stone not some soft composite.I have several of the normal Norton double oil stones, but I wanted a finer stone for finishing. This one is better than I expected, it fits perfectly with just the right grit rating.

Crack, Chipped and NOT What I Ordered!
The 1st thing that I noticed was that it was labeled as a "3000 Grit Set of Sharpening Stones" I ordered an 800 grit Whetstone and this is clearly not that. Not only is it the wrong stone, but this stone is cracked all the way through and it has many, many nicks, chips and imperfections. Unfortunately, it's not very useful with this many problens.
