Anthracite Coal Region's Slavic Community

Memories
I am a Slav from coal country, and like many others moved away eventually to go to college. This book had a nice overview in photos of many aspects of daily living. There are pictures from all over NEPA, "down the line" and "up the line" and to adjacent counties. There was a good mix of early photos and more recent ones. Each chapter had some textual introduction but I wish it had some more facts and figures describing the migrations and the individual subjects. I think the book missed telling about Slavic Jews, of which there were quite a few in my hometown. Also, there was no discussion of how the Slavs joined in the political culture. That was a very important part of life in these coal towns. All in all, though, it was very enjoyable.
