Great product.

My spouse purchased this Laser pointer to help with presentations in a group setting. It works great and is very helpful for attendees to keep up with the material being taught.

I liked the telescopic pointer (which you pull out at one end) and the presentation clicker to advance through various screens in PowerPoint or Word. I have not had occasion to work with the stylus so can't comment on that. I was a little disappointed with the Red Pointer when aimed at a smart television (at our local library) that had my presentation on the tv screen thru an HDMI hookup. The pointer either did not show up or was very faint. Yet the red light would show up on the surrounding white wall to the left of the smart tv.

I really wanted to like this, and while I don't hate it, I also don't recommend it. I got it because of the mechanical pointer, which is a great idea and definitely unique among presentation pointers. But along with that are several drawbacks that I'll describe below.When using the laser, the position in one's hand makes it comfortable to push the buttons, as they are offset towards the laser end of the pointer. But with the mechanical pointer fully extended, one must reverse the device and, to use the buttons, hold it much too forward in his/her hand, making it severely unbalanced and awkward to use. Were the buttons centered better in the handle, this might help a bit, but then it would make using the laser end less comfortable. Still, given the balance issue, it would have been much better to optimize the buttons for use with the mechanical pointer (which, I suspect, is the reason most people buy this pointer over the plethora of others available on Amazon).Another significant issue is that if you get used to using the device with, say the laser, then in those rarer instances when you might want to use the mechanical point, the buttons are now reversed. So you find yourself reversing slides when you want to advance them. Had Miritz simply included a switch to reverse the buttons, or sense when the mechanical pointer is extended and automatically reverse them, it would eliminate that confusion and make for a much more usable device.Also, the laser lags by half a second or so when pushing the button. This is a bit off-putting and definitely not necessary were the unit designed properly.Another quibble is that while the magnetic cap on the end is Apple-esque in style, it is easily dislodged when trying to grip the device to extend the mechanical pointer. More than once it flew off when trying to do so, in one case rolling under a cabinet that required moving to reclaim the cap.Finally, the manual is at best barely useful, stating the obvious but not mentioning anything about less obvious questions regarding how long to charge it, how to tell if it is fully charged (there is no indicator light to tell one way or another), etc.If you don't need the mechanical pointer, there are much better devices out there for less money. If you do need the mechanical pointer, you'll be relegated to a device that is awkward to use and feels rather cheap.
