Amazing tool. The scariest tool I own, but absolutely brilliant. The amount of branches you can get through is ridiculous compared to secateurs.If it's fresh branches and if it can fit in the jaws then it'll go through it.At worst it needs a couple of bites at it, if you're pushing your luck with branch diameter.My advice would be to hold anything you're chopping up with a closed fist and without your thumb sticking out.These can make you work so fast that it can be easy to forget that one wrong finger position and you're going to need a bag of frozen peas to put that missing digital in.Once the cut starts, it doesn't stop, so there's no room for error. No pair of strong gloves is going to save you from ruining your career as a pianist.Despite this, its well worth the money.Chopping up the branches to get them in the compost or garden waste used to be the part I hated, but now its much less of a chore.

My SO and I usually end up with hands like claws after using secateurs for any length of time, and had a ton of pruning to do. I've already got 4 DeWalt batteries, so this was a no-brainer, as other manufacturers have integral batteries, so you have to stop to recharge. It'll cut a branch the thickness of a man's thumb with a bit of wiggling, and makes the job a breeze. It's not a light device, so if you have a lot to do, rest the battery bottom on a bench or floor, and offer the branches up for destruction to save energy.For safety's sake, you'd have to make a concerted effort to remove your thumb, as there's a safety latch that you have to close purposely first to engage the motor with the blades. You'd have to be a bit dim to chop off your own digit by accident.

I'm a gardener and equipped with all the usual array of tools required. But, its pruning season and my hand is getting a real kicking with repetitive secateur action causing great discomfort. I suffer with my hand grip anyway so invested in the Dewalt power secateur. First use appeared a little bulky, obviously when I'm used to my Niwaki Japanese manual shears but I soon got used to this. It's incredibly sharp, a quick cut and release action, and actually quite comfortable to use. I'm a Dewalt follower anyway so use the batteries on other tools. I'd suggest at least using the 2 AH batteries or higher if your intending to use it on a mission. I was very impressed how quick I condensed the branch remains of a fruit tree into a garden waste bin! With the 3 year warranty and it's a no brainer. The safety switch is initially fiddly but it's there for a reason. Best gadget I've purchased for ages!!! Don't waste your money on another brand. This tool has awesome cutting power. Great product. Powerful and does hundreds of cuts between charges. Double trigger mechanism makes it as safe to use as you're going to get.

What a great little bit of kit!Not sure why I didn't buy one earlier.Makes cutting things upto 35mm really easy.I purchased to save my shoulders constantly cutting things up to fit in waste bags with standard loppers.Wow is all I can say.Battery life is amazing. I used with a 5AH and still had power enough on the second day .Obviously it has it's limits but that's what your other tools are for. Really pleased with this DeWalt tool and what a great price.

Cuts 30mm branches easily, usual DeWalt quality.
