Fits my vintage Mirro pressure cooker to replace stripped safety valve
I have a vintage 8 qt Mirro pressure cooker. The original safety valve is filled with a lead based solder that melts if the pressure builds up over 23lbs. Due to health concerns I like to replace them with the new version which now uses silicone plugs in place of lead based solder. When doing that, the hole in the aluminum lid stripped out and would no longer accept the screw in plug. Devastated, I thought to use this, the over pressure plug that intended for the All American Pressure Canner. The hole on the Mirro is 11.3 mm (all Mirros use the same size plug/one size fits all models and sizes). This item fit in the hole perfectly. It also holds pressure and does not leak. I do not know what size hole is on the All American lid for the pressure plug but I am assuming it is nearly the same size (11.3mm) because this item fits my Mirro like a glove. It was easy to get in and with some gentle but forceful finger pushing would easily come out. I assume if the pressure got very very high it would pop out eventually, relieving the pot of the excessive built up pressure. I do not plan to let that happen, so it is not an issue. You can see from the video and pictures that it is a great fit. If you have a vintage Mirro with a stripped hole for the screw in over pressure/ safety plug, give this a try. It worked for me and is giving life to what I thought might be a trashed pressure cooker.
