Some dogs do! Laying on your back as a dog is a sign of submission. A lot of dogs are triggered by that or get nervous when they feel that vulnerable..So what I would do to test before buying this is pick up your dog and hold them cradled like a baby.With their belly up towards the sky. If they try to twist and squirm or even bite or bark/yelp. This might not be the right item for you at all. Especially if they are on the bigger side because while this is a good quality item, if they start chewing or biting at it, nothing will really last that long or keep them in the sling. Last thing you need is for them to fall out and hurt themselves or take you down with them..There is like a draw string net type thing inside (and a latch to hook to their collar), I'm not planning on trying to envelope him in it, I did try to pull one side of it up around him and it made a 1-2" tear in the fabric. It's like lawn covering fabric almost, it's not meant to be tugged under a 25lbs belly. That's fine, not a big deal for me. I'm sure someone would give this a 1 star rating for that but I'm not so picky. Overall it's a sturdy item..(Post pandemic) I plan on using this when I take him to my niece's soccer games so he can be chill. He loves playing with other dogs so if he sees one he instantly starts shaking and crying. Except when he's on his back. He'll go into chill mode.
