I had previously bought a quality folding umbrella that cost 5 or 6 times as much, and it is certainly the one I would use if I were going out in a downpour. But at 11 inches when folded, it does not fit into my purse. I plan to use this umbrella to carry in my purse when there is only a chance of rain. Yes, this SY Compact umbrella is more difficult to open and close, and its handle is somewhat wobbly when extended. I suspect it would not be good in high winds and has to be treated gently.
