Such an enjoyable read
The only book I have ever read that tells you about so much of the history before Arthur Pendragon. It is well written with good time period touches. It engages you in the story from start to finish.

Enchanting tale
An exciting story of the time before the rise of King Arthur. I liked the the way that I was plunged into this violent world, which felt real and believable. The characters sprang into life, fully formed and feeling authentic. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

The story of Merlin - an entertaining prequel!
I thoroughly enjoyed BORN OF NO MAN and the Once and Future Hearts series promises great things. Tracey Cooper-Posey's ability to submerge you into a period of history is second to none. Everyone loves the story of Merlin but starting the story before his birth and with a whole host of new characters, adds an extra dimension. I loved Lynette and Cadfael's storyline but it had me worried there for a while. This writer's attention to detail is superb. I can't wait for the next instalment! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Born of No Man, Once and Future Hearts, Book 1.
What a great start to the Once and Future Hearts series. This new series from Tracy Cooper Posey is set in Arthurian Britain and is her twist on the ancient British legends.Of Merlin and King Arthur. We have been transported back to the times before Merlin and Arthur and his loyal knights, when Ancient Britain was a series of individual Kingdoms always one wrong step from battle with each other and the marauding Saxons. Amidst this backdrop a love story develops between two strong characters Cadfael, the Black and Lynette, companion to the Princess Vivian, daughter of King Gwilym.I really enjoyed the twists and turns of this book, the historical backdrop that immerses you, I can't even begin to imagine the amount of time that was taken up with research to make this story so believable for the reader! In my opinion this series is going to be another success. Thank you for the opportunity to read this bookI received an ARC of this book and have voluntarily written this review

The Legend Begins...
Tracy Cooper-Posey’s new series promises to be a great addition to her canon. Once again, I stayed up entirely too late reading this book, but I couldn’t put it down (which does tend to happen with new releases from Tracy). The story takes place when England was a warring nation with Saxons and Britons fighting for land and power. Princess Vivian has the power of foresight and her handmaiden, Lynette, has sworn to protect and preserve the Princess even when she doesn’t completely understand what Vivian’s motivations are. When a mysterious warrior arrives Vivian and Lynette take him to safety and tend to his wounds and fever. Their trips out of the compound arise the suspicions of Cadfael the Black, the High King Vortigern’s Battle Commander. Soon Vivian tasks Lynette to distract the dangerous man.The characters are well developed and I’m excited to see where she takes this series with her next book. There are a lot of new names to get used to and remember the relationships, but as the story develops it gets easier to remember who everyone is and how they are related.I recommend this book for those who love a good romance, historical fiction and the development of early Arthurian legends.

great story but some loose ends
I thought this was a fascinating and original retelling of the origins of Camelot, and I really enjoyed it, even as it made me uncomfortable. The 4 stars is for loose ends about the characters (like why Lynette was even in the south in the first place).

A Beautiful short story
There are no others words to describe this story other than beautifully done. It was hard to put it down once I started reading it and enjoyed almost all characters. I won't go into details because you really have to read it yourself to find out, but the romance is touching and full of healing. Lynette is a strong woman who stands her ground and fights for what she believes is right . She doesn't shy away from telling the truth or her opinion and it's that quality which draws in the hero. The main focus is Lynette and Cyndael (probably spelled his name wrong) and their romance , but the secondary characters are just as important. The love scenes are brief and not that descriptive, which was very acceptable in my opinion. No ugly words or dirty talk, so another plus.Definitely will check out more of this author's work.

Where's the rest of the book?
Ebooks are very deceptive. If you don't actually check the little progress number at the bottom of the screen, you have no idea how far into a book you are.I read most of this thinking it was a slow-burn beginning to an epic fantasy; the pace and level of detail felt like an immersive epic , and right at the point where I expected the story to really get underway -- suddenly, boom, it was over! Wait, really? But nothing HAPPENED yet! So it ended with quite a letdown in that respect.

Wonderful Characters!
This is a story of courage, loyalty and love. A 5th century warlord named Vortigern hires the Saxons to help the British fight the Picts. Then the Saxons battle to conquer Britain for themselves. Brave , clever men and women quietly resist both Vortigern and the Saxons while watching for a chance to free their land. Before a savior king arises, the Kingmaker must be born—Merlin! This tale is wonderfully written with crisp, believable dialogue and plot. Mix in a little suspense and sweet romance, and you have a five star novel!
