Uncle Tom’s cabin is of course, an astonishing work of art. True literature!Until now, I had no idea what was actually in it. I knew it was about slavery, and the common slur, “An Uncle Tom,” which is associated with it. We are all, I suppose, familiar with that, but I was never quite sure what it meant. Now, in common parlance, if it has any fair relationship to the book, I have now no idea whatsoever. It must involve Tom’s commitment to acquiesce with any master's requirements or demands. But it did have its limits:Tom was unwilling to give up his soul, and in his unwillingness, engaged in much that might be considered to be rationalization. However, those rationalizations always adhered to irrefutable logic. Therefore, we understand the accusations of rationalization to be unfair.This, and I very much doubt that the author would disagree, is a Christian book, and tributes Tom’s commitment to his soul to Christian concepts. And I hope that she would agree with me, when I tribute Tom’s commitment to his soul to be, his commitment to his honor as a human being!

A real eye opener on the dreadful days of slavery. Shocking and upsetting in parts but very educational.
