This is a great replacement motor at considerable savings.
I've owned a Summer's Heat 2200 btu wood pellet stove for over 4 years. I burn roughly 4 1/2 ton of pellets a season. That's a lot of pellets for the size of the stove. I have had to replace 3 auger motors over the past two years. I have been purchasing direct from the manufacturer at a cost that is double this universal replacement. This unit is just as well built as the manufacturer's motors and is working great in my stove. I had to reverse the rotation for my stove but it was a simple 4 screw process. I intend to purchase another one for a spare to keep on hand.

Works just fine!
This unit is a few notches better than the original one that came with the stove. It has a fan shaft extending from the backside of the drive motor to put a cooling fan on it, prolonging the life of the motor. As luck would have it, it turned the wrong way for my application, but that was easily fixed by pulling the rotor/frame and flipping the motor field laminations/transformer core over 180 degrees and re-installing the rotor/frame. It's a lot quieter than the original-issue gearbox, too. Save your money and get this gearbox instead of OEM stuff. At these prices, you could afford to have a spare on-hand!

Worked alright for a while, now needs replaced again. (Auger bearing was at fault)
***I'm leaving the original negative comment for any others that may be having difficulty with their PS40 so they might avoid costly repairs and frustrations with similar symptoms*** Worked well and quietly for one year and three weeks, so no warranty replacement for this fella. Its third gear in the box stripped right out instead of chewing through a few stuck for pellets. Occasionally, it would struggle through forcing the auger past a pellet or two and make a lot of noise before returning to its quiet operation. This time its shaft gave way and chewed itself right through the set screw and stripped the gears out when it caught traction again. *Edit: It turns out the bearing on the auger itself went out because of sawdust, which is a common problem with the Winslow PS40. Symptoms are loud and regular groaning and banging noises with the occasional failure to start. The motor and worm gear is a simple setup that has no protection against overworking itself, so this part wasn't to blame, and had actually pushed the set screw through the auger shaft before giving out. The auger replacement would have taken 3 weeks and cost $360, so I blew out all the sawdust from the auger bearing and put some graphite lubricant in there and it works like a champ. Only one rough spot which barely hangs up and the new motor can power right through. I recommend the solvent based graphite or putting some dry stuff into a little acetone and painting it into the gaps, but a good dusting with the dry kind should do just fine.

exceptionally well built
When I received the motor I was stunned. This particular motor is of a quality well above the original part it replaced. Heavy duty in all respects, cleanly cast and expertly assembled. The manufacturer claims the motor's direction of rotation is easily reversible and it really is(it's pretty much fool proof!). I installed the motor and it is almost silent compared to the constant "buzz" the original made prior to failure. btw...it's MADE IN AMERICA

These units are Junk
I purchased 2 of these motors for my englander wood stove. The first one didn't work at all. The second worked but not on an intermittent basis so it jammed my supply tube and caused my stove to shut off. I will just stick with original equipment from now on. I purchased these in Sept. to be prepared for the season however by the time I was able to use them the return period expired(bummer).

Works, but...
Label yellowed, like it's been in a warehouse for a few years (surplus?) A litte noisy but works. Original lasted 8 years, if this only lasts 5, then it's not worth the $40. savings

Great Value!
Based on another person's review of this motor, we purchased it. The reviewer had the same pellet stove as us (American Harvest from US Stove) and said that this motor worked well for him. We'd looked all over for an affordable replacement motor and couldn't find one. We'd purchased replacement motors from our stove manufacturer before, and they didn't last very long (and were $120). This motor is fabulous so far. We've had no troubles with it. It makes no noise that we can hear. It seems to be built at least as well as the expensive alternatives and is half the price! YAY! As the other reviewer stated, it turns the wrong way for our stove, but it hasn't mattered because it only stirs the firepot; we're not using it as an auger motor. It comes with instructions on how to change the direction if you need to. And we also had to get a hole drilled in the shaft for the pin, which was no small thing. We tried a drill press--shaft was too hard. We had to take it to a machine shop where they used their toughest piece of equipment and were finally successful. Still worth it, though. Great motor!! Great price!!

Ordered, received and DOA.... not working, Paid 96.43 $CDN for it, had to return it, cost me 27$ CDN for mailing back, and they only reimbursed 87.84$CDN for it..... Lost $36.00 for an item DOA, not working... Real deception. I never had a real bad experience with Amazon purchases before, but this one....... Deceived.
