Review: I definitely made the right choice for a wireless gaming headset! - My experience - I watched tons of video reviews, read headset guides and everything I could after I decided to go wireless. I've been avoiding wireless headsets for a while, because the performance to convenience trade off was just never there. Either the battery would die too often and need to be recharged, or the audio quality was complete garbage. These are by no means an audiophile grade headphone, but I would definitely consider them to be above average for most listeners/consumers. I haven't tried a wireless set personally in 3 years, and the last one I tried was bad. The sound quality was bad, battery life was bad, it was all around a horrible experience and I returned them right away. What/Why I'm replacing - I came from Audio Technica ADG1X headset that I've had for about 2 and a half years. They have been a great headset, although at a price point of $300 they should be. They were light, comfortable and sounded great. However, I've since moved from a small house in the country to a condo and while I like the large sound stage you get from open back headphones hearing my neighbors and other people around me isn't ideal while gaming or listening to music. The headset was getting a little worn out and my cable is constantly twisting and getting caught under my chair or on my keyboard so I decided it was time for something new and began investigating wireless to see if the technology had come along for headsets as it has for mice (my Logitech G Pro Wireless mouse is a dream). Look/Style - These HyperX Cloud Flights haven't been out long but clearly HyperX put in the time and research because they just got it right. I've seen several reviewers talk about them not looking cool or flashy enough and flagging that as a negative but in my opinion it's a bonus. You can't even see the headphones when they are on your head. Maybe it's a concern if you're streaming but even Shroud uses these headphones and they look fine. I love that they don't attract a ton of attention. Battery Life/Buttons/Drivers - I've only had these for a few days but I've yet to run out of battery since the initial charge. I use them with the LED lighting off, because I can't see it anyways when I'm wearing them. The mute button is brilliantly placed and easy to get to, the mic is so easy to detach when you don't need to communicate and would rather not have something in your face. The setup was extremely simple, although they do offer drivers/software you can download to customize further but I prefer the driver-less plug and play functionality and am glad that I can use these without that extra software. All of the controls/buttons are easy to reach and easy to use. FYI, the volume wheel controls the volume for Windows. The headset doesn't have a separate volume wheel. I actually enjoy and prefer this, because my ADG1X had it's own volume wheel (which causes audio to cut out sometimes) that even when working properly I would accidentally brush against and change my volume. Comfort - Especially important since we tend to wear gaming headsets for hours on end. Several of the reviewers I read or watched said these were the most comfortable headphones they'd ever worn. I was still hesitant to buy into how great they would feel for the sole reason that my ADG1X were extremely light, and amazingly comfortable. I'm happy to say that HyperX got this right too. I definitely feel a little more airflow with the ADG1X which is expected since they are open back, but my ears never got sweaty with the Flights and they were surprisingly lightweight for being a wireless headset. The free feeling of no wires dangling down to your shoulders/chest is quite amazing. It would be extremely difficult if not impossible to go back at this point. My ADG1X had 53mm drivers and the cloud flight have 50mm, but for some reason the actual cups on the ADG1X were a lot bigger and completely round. Whereas the Flights are more ear-shaped and not quite as large. This makes them feel smaller on your head which is a good thing, turning your head doesn't feel quite as cumbersome. Sound - At the end of the day nothing else about a headphone really matters if they sound like crap. As I mentioned before, these aren't audiophile grade headphones, although I don't think any audiophile would even consider a wireless headset so it's a moot point. You DO lose a certain level of audio quality by going with wireless over a wired connection. Just like you lose some connection speed going from ethernet to WiFi. For most people, this isn't an issue and the sound quality on the Flights is more than good enough to make the convenience of wireless 2-way audio with 30 hour battery life worth it. Technically my old headset (audio technica ADG1X) WAS an audiophile grade headphone, although I didn't use a DAC, amp, or even a soundcard with it to truly push it to its capabilities. That being said, I love the way these Flights sound. I'm actually hearing certain details now that I couldn't hear with my open back headset just due to noise isolation alone. Music overall sounds fuller since the bass is more prevalent (not overblown or shoved down your throat, but it was practically non-existent on my ADG1X). The highs and mids aren't as nicely detailed as on my other headphones but its' nearly impossible to tell without listening back to back and comparing, looking for a difference. The microphone is quite good as well, the people I play with on a daily basis couldn't even tell I was on a headset that cost nearly half the price of my old one. The few that I asked about it said it sounds really good. Now one big concern I did have was volume. It's very common for wireless headsets to have a pretty low volume cap due to power restrictions etc. I even read a few comments from owner's of these headphones that said they didn't get loud enough. I'm happy to say they must have had something configured wrong in their windows audio mixer because these headphones get very loud. Not blow your ear drum out loud, but they can definitely get loud enough to be uncomfortable. I have been keeping them around 50-70% depending on what games I'm playing, and most of my games have master audio set down to 50%. So there is plenty of power. I should note that the 30 hours battery life that HyperX advertises is said to be at a 50% volume. So if you regularly keep the volume higher or maxed you won't get quite as much battery life but it should still be plenty enough that you don't have to charge mid session. I must also say the soundstage is surprisingly better than I thought it would be for closed back phones, and you can very clearly pinpoint the direction of enemy footsteps and gun shots. Final Thoughts - I highly recommend this headset. The level of performance is unmatched for a wireless headset in this price range. Everything just comes together so nicely in an easy, convenient to use package that performs like a wired headset in many ways. I was able to walk my entire condo (1100 sq ft) without losing/degrading the connection to my PC playing music. I've always considered HyperX a solid contender in the gaming headset market, but to see this as their first attempt at wireless makes me a true believer in the brand and I look forward to seeing what they come up with next!
Review: Fantastic Wireless Connection - Performed Reliably For 2+ Years - EDIT: Original review below. After almost two and a half years of reliable service, I will be retiring my current HyperX Cloud Flight headset. The leatherette finish on the ear cushions has been rubbing off and the battery life has been degrading somewhat over the last few months. Absolutely no degradation in wireless connection. I've dropped this headset a million times on to hardwood floors and it has kept ticking through all of the abuse. Very impressed with the performance of this headset over the last couple of years and will be purchasing again! At $100, $10 more than previously purchased, this headset is still a deal. Mic is still garbage, I don't even know where the mic arm is as I detached it from the headset when I originally set it up. I wouldn't be surprised if I threw it in the trash. Don't get this headset for the mic, but for everything else; it has performed flawlessly! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'm absolutely impressed by the wireless capability of this wireless gaming headset, and I got it on sale for $90! This headset originally launched for $159.99, what a steal. I live in a 100 y/o farmers house with lath and plaster walls and traditional hardwood floors with carpet. My bedroom is on the second story of this house. When I say I'm going to be right back, I leave the headset on, walk out of my room, down a flight of stairs, through the living room and dining room, down another flight of stairs and into the basement and there's absolutely no cut outs, no static, no signal degradation of any kind. WOW! The headset connects to my computer through a plug-and-play USB dongle that's plugged in to the top of my computer. I cannot say enough about the wireless capabilities of this headset. Comfort is nice. I have a big head and this headset doesn't put much pressure on the sides of my head, the ear cushions are comfortable for long gaming sessions (8+hrs) and the headset itself is lightweight. You'll forget that its on and the sound stage and quality is excellent. Sound isolation is good as well, if you dont have live feedback from your mic, you wont be able to hear your own voice very well, especially with the volume turned up. I used Astro A40 TR's previously for a point of reference. Lets get something straight. The mic is garbage. Sound quality from your end of the mic is not good (then again me and the people I play with all use high quality mics, Blue Yeti anyone?) and your team will definitely notice. One thing I do have to note as a con, and I feel this is more of my location and the lack of good insulation in my house, this headset runs hot. I can definitely feel the heat build up in the cups and it gets mildly uncomfortable sometimes. If you live in a hot climate without a/c or good airsealing and insulation (I've been an insulation tech for the last 4 years) this headset will make your ears feel hot as it is closed back. All in all, very impressed with this headset for the price. I probably would have paid full price just for the quality of the wireless connection alone. Hope this helps!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does the battery wear out if you charge it over night, does the battery stop letting you charge at full?**
A: Nicole,
HyperX Cloud Flight automatically stops charging when battery reaches a full charge, even with charging cable attached. Our internal testing has shown no evidence of battery degradation with the charging cable connected for extended periods of time. Cloud Flight can function up to 30 hours (with headset LED lights turned off) on a full charge, not 50 hours. Visit HyperX Gaming website for additional Cloud Flight information: https://www.hyperxgaming.com/us/headsets/cloud-flight-wireless-gaming-headset. Thank you.

**Q: When using the 3.5 mm cable, the headset can only be used as headphones, correct (i.e. the microphone won't work)?**
A: Hello David,
HyperX Cloud Flight headset microphone and volume adjustment controls are functional only when the headset is paired to the USB wireless adapter in wireless operation. Neither microphone or headset volume adjustments work in wired configuration using the 3.5mm cable. Thank you.
-Kai @ HyperX

**Q: Does this headest work for xbox one?**
A: Sorry but Kingston is wrong about the Flights working on the Xbox One. You can use the included 3.5mm cable and ug into your controller or headset adapter . You do lose chat functionality and control 9f the volume wheel however. Or you can do what I did and have full chat on the Xbox One. I used the V-Moda Boompro microphone and plugged that into where the 3.5mm cable goes. Now I have crystal clear chat and full use of the Flights on my Xbox One. Also the headset is much louder than when it is used wirelessly.

**Q: If i were to put the bluetooth usb in my ps4 and run an aux cord to my pc, could I hear my party chat aswell as speak to them, while hearing pc audio?**
A: Jesse,
HyperX Cloud Flight headset based on RF (Radio Frequency) wireless connectivity, not bluetooth technology. Cloud Flight can only connect to one host device at a time. Either attach Flight USB wireless adapter to PS4 to use headset on game console, or move USB adapter to PC to listen PC audio. Cloud Flight does not work with USB adapter connected to PS4 and separate PC auxiliary cord attached to the headset.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great fit and comfort for my large head and overall a very solid headset, but few minor things worth noting
*by B***N on March 4, 2018*

Much like other headsets from the HyperX Cloud series I found these to be extremely comfortable for my extra large head, not just in terms of fit but also in weight and feel. I'm also really happy these have great sounding drivers and microphone. It was plug-and-play for PC and PS4. Some points worth considering: - I have trouble buying headsets/glasses/hats because of my enormous head. Not only do these fit me, they do so without clamping down. I've had my roommate try, who has a normal human sized head, and he also thought these fit well without feeling loose or clamped at all. - Comfort factor goes further with headband and earcup padding that just feel right. They're not anything to write home about, but they just work well without feeling like line of marshmallows. - It is also lightweight to the point that you'll barely feel them on your head if you walk around (great range on the wireless). - Battery life is phenomenal, but worth noting that it seems to be heavily tied down to LED setting which has three settings - solid, blinking, and off. - Related to the point above, there is no visual battery indicator, only audio so it's easy to miss. Also there is no way to save the LED setting, and you have to cycle to one you want every time. Small thing but still annoying as LED seems to affect battery life heavily. - Build quality pretty good, though if you're comparing them to others from HyperX Cloud family, they might fall a bit short. Still, very well built. ***Edit: Three months in and everything I wrote above still holds true, but I decided to drop it a star; in reality, I think it was always more of a 4.5 stars than 5, maybe even slightly lower. LED setting not saving is annoying to the point where you just don't even bother with it eventually, but then the battery life suffers for it; I would have preferred doing away with LED completely. Build quality is still good and nothing has gone wrong, but going back and forth between this and other HyperX Cloud headset, it kinda leaves you wanting more especially at this price point. I think another review captured it perfectly - it's a very solid headset, but it's difficult to shake off the feeling that whatever HyperX's 2nd wireless ends up being, they'll have learned a lot of lessons from this one.
