Best Sphagnum Moss Iโve Ever Used โ My Houseplants Are Thriving!
I added this premium Sphagnum moss to my orchid, ariods, monstera, and carnivorous plant setups and the difference is night and day. It holds moisture perfectly without staying soggy, promotes healthy root growth, and looks beautiful as a top dressing. The fibers are long, clean, and pesticide-free โ no weird smell or debris like cheaper brands. My plants are happier and growing faster already. Super easy to rehydrate and use for propagation or potting mixes. If youโre serious about indoor plants, this is a must-have!

Great product and easy to use.
This is the moss to buy for making baskets for plants. I use it also for orchids and keep a package always on hand for mixing into soil. It doesnโt seem like a lot but stick half of the pack in a 5 gal bucket and fill with water. Youโll be amazed in about 30 min. It will suck up the water and youโre good to go. Itโs good quality and easy to use. Definitely a must for your own baskets.

Quality product
Very nice quality. If you donโt need much, I suggest the smaller package. I only rehydrated one of the four blocks and had a 12 x 12 tub overflowing! Worth the money for sure!

Produces a huge amount of natural peat moss. Helps to increase acidity and retain moisture in soil.
I grow most of our vegetables and herbs year around, and discovered that the soil in my pots was more alkaline than it should be. Most of the plants I grow require soil on the acidic side for microbes to break down nutrients into a usable form. My tomatoes and bell peppers were developing yellow spot on the leaves that I found out could be caused from lack of nutrients. Since I regularly supply these plants with nutrients, I knew that lack of nutrients wasn't the problem. With more research, I found out that microbes in the soil must break down nutrients in the soil in order for the plants to absorb them. For these microbes to do their job, the soil PH should be 6.2 to 6.8. My soil was 7.2. Since Sphagnum moss helps to lower the PH of the soil, I bought this product, and initially, wasn't impressed by the size of the package - it was really small. So, keeping an open mind, I put the small block in a 3 gallon tub and filled it half full of water. Within a couple of minutes, the block began to grow and continued growing. I moved it to a 5-gallon bucket and added more water. It continued to grow until it filled the bucket, but still, it was not all hydrated. So, I moved what was hydrated back into the 3-gallon tub and filled it. I added more water to the bucket, and this product filled the bucket by the time it was fully hydrated. So, my first suggestion would be to cut this block into at least 4 sections if you don't need a lot at one time. This sphagnum moss has very long fibers. It would work well for plants that grow in moss or possible for starting seedlings if mixed with perlite and vermiculite. This moss would also be excellent for air layering which is used to root cuttings on hard wood plants or trees to produce new plants. This is one purpose I plan to use it for. For my general purpose to mix it with soil, I have been breaking up the fibers to make them smaller in order to mix them into the soil. This should lower the PH in the soil and eventually the fibers will break down, but I prefer the sphagnum peat moss that is already broken into smaller pieces as it is easier to mix into the soil. I did find a few twigs in this moss, but not too bad for the amount of moss produced in this quantity. Personally, I wouldn't buy this moss again for my purposes, but it would work great for those growing orchids or other plants that grow in moss. At any rate, lowering the PH for my tomatoes, peppers, and even the veggie greens has had some exceptional results. My tomatoes are consistently producing much larger tomatoes and my pepper plants have a multitude of new flowers and developing peppers. I hope this review is helpful for you.

I guess we aren't paying for high quality!
As others have said, this is a good value, but the quality is a bit lacking. There are bits of other plant debris in there, though not enough to be a huge problem for me. I have had some mold, some swampy smell, and some mystery volunteer plants pop up in my grow bins using this moss. Mold happens. Mystery plants are possibly a bonus? (They're probably weeds, but a girl can hope! I have them isolated in a bin together to see what they grow up to be.) The other reviews stating that this looks a bit more "broken down" are not wrong. I have bought other moss that was less compressed and in much longer tougher strands, but to be honest the weathered moss is easier to work with if you're just putting it in a prop box because you don't have to disentangle roots from long strands of moss and worry about hurting the plants you're pulling out. All in all, I don't regret the choice to buy this, but if you want long, tough strands of moss you should look elsewhere. For the price it's fine, but I still can't give 5 stars because of all the contaminates!

Good moss
This is crazy stuff. It ships almost completely flattened into a brick. There are no instructions, but you're meant to wet it. Once you do it puffs up very quickly and becomes loose moss. It's neat. Use a big container or it will overflow. I have used a fair bit of it already in several projects and like it, it's good moss and it seems to hold plenty of moisture inside it. I have quite a bit left as well which is nice.

Not clean and smells funny and seemed to be moldy
I really was not a fan of this sphagnum moss. Personally I think it was very poor quality a lot of sticks and debris. It also had a funky smell and seemed to get moldy faster then other brand I have used. The one plus was it was super cheap. The size was nice, but I prefer quality over quantity. The color seemed light but it also had a grey tint I wasn't to happy about and just with all the extra little pieces of debris it seemed very poor quality. Not cleaned well at all. Idk if you use it for something that is not that important it maybe worth it , but I wouldn't suggest using it for plants or reptiles at all!

Used out of purpose
It was exactly as advertised. I used it for African loincloths and everyone loved the dolls I made. They cited the authentic look the moss gave. Like they would know. But thanks it worked perfectly.
