Beautiful and sharp!
The knife is beautiful and it comes in a nice giftable box. But honestly, do we buy a knife just becauses its pretty? I have many other knives, but I have to say this one is my favorite so far. Besides the beauty, it feels balanced in my hand. It is extremely sharp. Tonight I cut through tomatoes like butter, no ripping or struggling. I could also do a very thin cut, not just a thick slice. I also diced up provolone and mozzarella cheese for my salad. No sticking while cutting up the soft cheese. Clean up with this knife is easy, I just have to be careful because it is so sharp. I am reading reviews complaining it's not dishwasher safe. First of all, you should never put your good knives in the dishwasher. As for storing, I guess if you are not going to use it daily you can dry it and put it back into the case it came with. I bought a magnetic stainless steel bar here on Amazon. I have it attached to the front of my fridge where I keep the knives I use the most and this one looks great with the other knives. If you decide to keep it in a drawer, try to find a cover to fit the blade. Just reaching in for the knife if you are not careful will cause a severe cut. As with most new knives, they are always sharp when they are new. I will update after I use this for a few months. So far I have used it to cut veggies, meats, cheese, and watermelon and was very happy with it.

Balanced knife and comes pre-sharpened very sharp!
As soon as you unbox it you are hit with awesome presentation. I loved the box it came in. Of course, i washed it and used it right away! First thing I did was test for balance. The knife has a very apparent fulcrum right in the center of the knife, which is nice and makes finding the sweet spot on the knife easy. It cuts like butter with little weight needed to cut a thick piece of chicken breast. I butterflied and diced 4 thick chicken breasts with ease. I've used this knife with several types of cutting boards and holds up nicely. I cook a lot and have tried to use this knife exclusively with my veggies, meats, opening food packaging, the works. I haven't needed to sharpen it yet and is as sharp as it was since the day I got it. I wouldn't want to drop this knife though as the blue jewel part looks like it would be fragile if dropped. Other than that, I'm pretty sure this is not a full tang knife but the handle still feels solid. It has definitely earned a spot along side my other knives and is not too bad to look at either. I love the Damascus styling.

All that Bling is Covering for Performance
Pros: - Lightweight - Sharpness/edge 8 out 10 before first use; I'm torn on sharpness - the edge did not roll but did not hold sharpness after a week of use on cutting meat and veggies - I really like this knife for chopping veggies, light and fast in a good way Cons: - Cost is not justified at $70 for quality and construction - Thin blade, does appear to be Damascus over core steel laminate; the blade is too thin but it is flexible without yielding - Blade sharpness 7 out of 10 after a week of relatively light use - Great at chopping veggies but it is not a great scooper spatula and I found the dimples actually caused more finely chopped veggies to stick to the blade I'll continue using this knife and will update the review accordingly; however, my impression is I would save my money for a better-quality knife without the bling.

Santoku (or Bunka)
Kuwata Santoku Knife arrived in a presentation box and appears is designed for gifting. Box is an elegant low luster black finish with magnetic hinged closing flap. Opening flap reveals royal red dense padding and knife handle. Handle is a mix of blue resin and what appears to be wood. The blue resin shines even sparkles within light. Removing a layer reveals distinctive Stainless-steel layers which look like topography on a honed shiny silver and black Damascus blade. Kuwata Santoku knife comes sharp with some good weight at 0.2 pounds or 3.2 ounces. Blade might extend through handle but there is no indication by looking at handle of that happening. Simple included directions show the other knives Shenzhen Homesaftety Electronic Co., Ltd make and sale but gives no care instructions or information on the knife blank. Being Stainless-steel and having a composite handle I wonder if this knife might survive dishwashing? Bending the knife blade and holding the handle still causes audible cracking sounds and causes worry resin might not stand test of time. I have been upgrading my kitchen knifes recently. This Santoku, which is Japanese general-purpose kitchen knife, is part of the upgrade. I like the way this knife feels in hand and the aesthetics. If you are looking for a pleasing and crafted knife, I would suggest at least looking at this one.

The quality is good
This knife feels and looks amazing in the hand. Although I'm by no means a competent chef, I am beginning to recognize the value of a well-made kitchen knife in the cooking process. I'm attempting to genuinely invest in my cooking gear after spending far too much time using knives that cost less than a good steak or blades that have been dull for twenty years. An initial step in that direction is this nakiri knife.

performs as expected.
So if you be thinking this is a cheap mans Wusthof Classic knife you are barking up the wrong tree. It's a nice knife-for the money and seems to keep a good edge and it's certainly good looking. I think some of the newer German Stuff with their lower range of cutlery is more like this. I know it says Damascus and layered and all that but I am skeptical of a quality Damascus at this price level. Time will tell and we'll revisit this down the road. For the price I think it's worth a try.

Badass knife
This knife looks badass. The ribbing and staining are like something out of a Kung fu film. This knife is also badass because it is SHARP. I decided to slice a tomato in the video because I often find soft vegetables hard to cut with dull knives. Itโs a double-edged sword though โ I recommend washing, drying, and putting away immediately out of reach of children. Always cut away from you and be careful when handling knives this sharp. The box has a picture of a bow on it and it might be a nice house warming gift.
