Hella 148541001 Wire Hrns Re 4000 Series

I bought some Hella 4000's to go on my FJ Cruiser and needed a wiring solution. I am not an electrical guy, but I was intent on doing the install myself. There was no way I would be able to put together a harness on my own out of raw parts, so I needed a solution. The solution that made the most sense to me was the one provided by the manufacturer of my lights. It is going to be hard to wax poetic about a bundle of wires, a relay and a switch, but Hella does put out a nice product. Despite the fact that I had two small problems, I gave this rig 5 stars because everything is of such a high quality. My problems were simple ones and might not even affect your install. First, I didn't use the switch. The switch that came with the harness is an extremely high-quality, Euro-style switch. It looks like OEM equipment in some Teutonic land yacht, but it didn't work with my Japanese interior AND it isn't lighted. No big deal. My other problem was that I crossed a couple wires and the relay stuck open. I rapped it with the handle of a screwdriver and it has been fine ever since. Again, no biggie. That one was my fault anyway. All in all, I am very satisfied. It features nice, heavy gauge wire--and plenty of it. It's pre-cut and pre-configured for the less electrically inclined among us. The instructions were easy and made sense to a complete newbie. The bottom line is: my lights are installed, they work and I'm happy.

For those that think they have to wire it into their headlights, you do not have to. Simply ground the brown wires to the battery and wire the green wire coming out of the switch to the battery. Works perfect. No overheating and no loose connections

As with all HELLA products that I have purchased, this wiring harness is very well made. My purchase arrived in a soft-pak,NOT in a proper cardboard box for protection,consequently,the HELLA product box was crushed as were the H1 bulb boxes also. I returned this purchase,because I am not spending the time to install and risk discovering that a component in this harness was damaged because of poor shipping.

If you have no idea what you're doing and need to figure out how to install your new lights, this is a great all-in-one solution. Two very nice plugs that snap right into the rear light housing, comes with a fused relay and switch. Instructions are straightforward, but primarily driven by graphics. Having built on the confidence instilled by this little setup, I'm doing my own wiring for the additional lights purchased for my truck. I did have to extend the switch wiring to get to where I wanted it, but that was easy enough. Highly recommend for a no nonsense solution to installing lights.

If your buying the Hella 4000 lights.....this is a must. Wire lengths are perfect for any vehicle. Instructions are a bit sketchy, but able to be followed per your application. Do not try to install the lights without this harness. Everything is plug and play. Great product.

Usually would build own wire harness. Time was limited and didn't want the hassle with ordering the parts. This complete kit provides a professional install finish and detailed instructions. Remember if electrical wiring is not your strength, visit You Tube to view a tutorial on what others have to say.

Luckily I know my way around electrical wiring, Living up to what I have come to expect from every piece of Hella equipment I have ever purchased, the directions to install their products are almost useless. I'm pretty sure Ikea and Hella use the same company to write their instruction manuals. That being said, the reason I purchase Hella products is not for their instructions, but for their quality product. What they lack in instruction, they more than make up for in quality. This wiring harness was constructed very nicely and was worth me not having to go and source all the wiring and connectors myself. I did purchase an OE light switch to replace the one included with this kit, however. The included knob is pretty unsightly and rather bulky as well. A simple toggle switch would have been a better choice. All in all, the product does what it's supposed to and has powered my Hella 4000's for over a year now with absolutely no problems.

Well made and complete. Run the wires, make up the terminations and you are good to go. Very convenient.
