A Beast of a Saw – Perfect for Firewood Business The Husqvarna 460 Rancher has truly exceeded my expectations. It’s powerful, smooth, and incredibly reliable — everything you want in a workhorse saw. As someone who runs a firewood business, this has become my primary saw, and it’s more than proven itself. Before writing this review, I’ve put it through its paces, processing at least six full cords of wood — and it hasn’t skipped a beat. The performance is consistent, the cuts are clean, and it handles larger logs with ease. I swapped out the standard 24” bar for a 28” bar, and the added reach has made a big difference when working with oversized rounds. Whether you’re in the business or just need a serious tool for heavy-duty cutting, the 460 Rancher is a top-tier choice. I absolutely love this saw and can confidently recommend it to anyone who needs power, performance, and durability in one rugged package.

Just a Awesome chainsaw!
I had a pine tree (over 50 feet tall) that had to come down. This chainsaw is a beast! Also, simply fun to use; it didn't bog down at all and simply went through a maybe 2-foot-wide trunk with no problem. Highly Recommend!

Overall a great saw
This is my 2nd 460 Rancher. After running them thru hundreds of tanks, countless hrs, prob a thousand trees, they just work. They aren't the speed demons of pro saws, but for every tree that a normal guy will encounter on his/her property it's a great saw. Keep it clean, buy a chain sharpening kit and keep the chain sharp, use the correct gas/oil mixture, read the instructions (and forum posts) if you havent used chainsaws much, and do the simple maintenance (including NOT leaving fuel in it for months at a time) and it'll last you for years. The one thing I'd suggest is to drop the 24" bar and throw a 20" bar on there -> it makes for a much more "usable" chainsaw. I've left the 24" bar on this new one, but I use a 20" bar on my old one. Maybe find or fabricate a set of larger dogs on it, but that's a personal opinion thing. I have a 2 Stihls (one smaller and one larger than the 460) and the Husky works out best for most jobs I do. Stay safe around trees and chainsaws.

Great saw but lot of plastic parts compared to my old 55 Rancher
I purchased the 460 rancher to replace a 55 rancher that I’ve had for 25+ years. I used the 55 in a professional and homeowner setting and cut thousands of trees and hundreds of cords of wood. So I wanted to stick with Husqvarna. My first impression of the 460 wasn’t great since it looks like everything but the bar is made of cheap plastic. Definitely a change from the 1990’s model of the 55 which has a metal crank case. However, I used the 460 this week to cut about 2 cords of pine/spruce trees. It cut great and fast, even with the 24” bar at 8,000 ft elevation. It started on the second pull the first time and on the first pull every time after. It’s a little heavier than my old 55 but it’s a larger saw. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is all the plastic materials/parts, so time will be the true test.

Excellant Husqvarna Chainsaw
Just got the chainsaw, Tried it for about 30 minutes. Really Love it. Will update later on the performance and any faults it has. Went to register the chainsaw through Husqvarna.com Product number not working. Contacted the seller CPO Outlets. They told me to contact Husqvarna. What the heck. FINALLY got ahold of Husqvarna. HAD to register product under a different product number. But the S/N will be the same on saw. THIS WAS A NIGHTMARE. BUT I LOVE THE SAW. EXCELLANT power on 24 inch bar. On a 20 inch bar it cuts really awesome. I do recommend any person able to get a chainsaw like this. GO TO A REPUTABLE DEALER or go to Husqvarna website.

First new chainsaw
Can't go wrong with this saw, I had been in need of a solid workhorse for a while to deal with firewood (how we heat our home). My neighbor is a tree climber and always had plenty of free wood. I was trying to get by with an underpowered Poulan saw but it was time to upgrade. Grabbed this one on sale, under $500. At first I was not impressed, seemed weak and not up to the task, however after the 3rd tank I was noticing a difference and by the 6th tank it was ripping S up. Glad I purchased this saw. Be sure to break in properly and only use non-ethanol fuels, mix in small batches to keep your fuel fresh and any that is left over after the season, put in your car (the little bit of oil won't hurt) and mix a new batch. Upon research I learned Husky is faster at the top end speed over Stihl, while Stihl has a bit more bottom end grunt. I was sawing 16-20 inch logs and would rev it up, start the cut and just let the weight of the saw do the work at the high speed, was like butter. This saw is ripping so good I plan to give it a go with one of those Alaskan Mills and see how it does. If not enough I will get a 70-90cc saw for this task.
