Plenty of retro action for less than fifty bucks
My husband is a long time Playstation fan, so the controllers included with this seemed like a perfect fit for him. They aren't flimsy or cheap feeling either. I was honestly impressed by the quality of the controllers they included. This system is quite literally just plug and play. Plug it into an HDMI port on your TV, plug it into a USB port to power it, and you're in business. The included instructions are basically useless, but fortunately we have enough experience with things like this that it wasn't overly difficult to figure out. All of the Mario games are in their own little section and can not be marked as favorites for some reason, but since they are in their own dedicated section that really isn't a big deal. You can very easily find them. There are plenty of games to choose from and everything we've tried has worked except Duck Hunt, which hasn't worked on anything for years now and I was kind of surprised to see it there at all. For us, at least, it's a pretty good little retro console. My husband keeps the controllers on the table beside his chair and reaches for it quite frequently. It's very convenient for him to only have to change the channel and then have that entire library of options available to him. Most of what he's played around with I honestly don't even recognize at all, but he certainly does and it's very gratifying to see him smile while playing it. There's a lot here to choose from, so if you don't like something you can simply move on. If you do like something it's pretty easy to mark it and add it your favorites list so it's easier to find again later. For the price and the quality it seems like a pretty good deal to me. He certainly hasn't lost interest in it, so that tells me all I need to know.

Not very use friendly.
This game system is neat for nastolgia, but not for regular frequent play, mainly because of it’s usability. Initially, it was difficult to figure out. I thought this would be a plug and play kind of thing, but it wasn’t exactly that easy. The box included two controllers, some cables, and a thing I wasn’t sure what it was. My IT spouse had to look at it all and figure it out because, although it did come with an ‘instruction’ book, it doesn’t actually describe how to get it working from the box. It gives some basic descriptions of how things work once you already have it up and going. Even after figuring out how to get it on and working, it is still difficult to toggle between the different options. That being said, it has some classic games I was familiar with from back in my 80’s arcade days and tons I have never heard of before. I thought this would be something fun my spouse and I could have a few drinks and play together, but, it’s just more of a pain and we’ve seen other options with these games that seem way more user friendly. This one is set up to where it had classic games, but you almost have to know what system those games came out on in order to know where to find them. And you can only search within one system at a time, not the whole game list. So, if you are looking for something specific, you are going to need to know the exact name and the system it was released on to find it. And…you will need to know alternate names of the systems as they are not brand labeled as Atari, or Super Nintendo. I’m just not that game savvy, nor do I really care, so this ended up being a bigger pain that I care to deal with. We played it once and haven’t bothered with it since. If it was a truly plug and play system and we could more easily navigate and find games we wanted to play, then I would probably have rated higher. I think for the price, there are better, more user friendly options.

Thousands of loaded games. The controllers are a bit cheap feeling but work fine. It was a bit tricky to get set up but managed to muddle through. After getting it set up, my husband and I have had many hours of fun playing nostalgic games. Would make a nice gift.

Memory Lane
This definitely stirs up some great memories for me. Some of the games I have heard of and many I had not. Just nice to take an hour or so and play a game. You forget where video games began and how less complex they were back then. The system works well and seems fairly durable. Quality overall is okay but I bought for the memories and that part is definitely satisfied.
