these locks are great this is my second and love them but this ...
Biggest thing Xena it needs a pouch. these locks are great this is my second and love them but this one don't com with a pouch now for those who don't know these alarms will arm if quite easily. so if you have it in you top box and say a bit of material gets in the gap were the disc goes it will arm it and then all that happens is you drive along the road with it going off in your box. This problem is solved by using a pouch (as i do with my old smaller one) the other thing that bugs me a little is its not a push to close like my old one because it double locks it you need to use the key to lock it which can be a pain when you want to quickly lock your bike up.Over all shes sold and dose the job thy last on is still going strong (just batteries changed) and i have had it 6 years or so hop this one is just as good :)

Great but wish the armed lock could detect false alarms
Beefy unit, works well as a lock in its own right, but for me, the alarm was a decisive factor in purchasing this lock over cheaper ones. The alarm hasn't gone off falsely yet, and the weather is currently doing 45mph gusts. I've used a reminder cable to the bars to ensure that I don't ride off without removing the lock and this has a bonus of keeping the lock relatively still unless the wheel moves.Bad points, if there would be a false alarm the unit beeps 5 times and then goes off anyway. I would have preferred it if the unit would only go off if it is moved twice in those 5 seconds, after all a nice beep is normally enough to deter would be thieves

Very good sturdy lock and good loud alarm.
I have just returned to bikes and purchased this for my VFR750. The lock is very sturdy and feels a good heavy weight.I would have liked to see this model in the bright fluorescent yellow of some other makes as I think it makes a more visual deterrent. The locking mechanism seems very fluid and easy to use. I have had no problems setting or unlocking this alarmed lock. I have locked it and then put the cover over my bike and then removed the cover when preparing to go out, both without any false alarm activations.I have not tested the volume of the alarm as I fear disturbing my neighbours but if the initial setting 'peep' is anything to go by, a sustained noise from this thing will be pretty loud. With a bit of practice, if you are careful when entering the key into the lock, this comes off effortlessly and without false activation.I also purchased the Oxford reminder cable from Amazon to go with this, so I don't inadvertently move off with the lock in place.

Good lock but with flaws
I have used this disk lock for a year now.The good:- Solid build quality- Looks and feels the part- Sufficiently loud alarm- The alarm can be removed entirely while the disk lock is open (in case you don't always want to use it)The bad:- Alarm starts beeping when you insert the key to open the lock and goes off very quickly afterwards, leaving very little time to open the lock- The key doesn't operate smoothly and it's very fiddly. Combined with the point above this can be really annoying (imagine fiddling with your key while the alarm goes off on a busy street, not great...).- Greasing the lock doesn't help. I have not had the issue that another reviewer described where the lock becomes inoperable but I can easily see this happening. On balance, solid lock but with drawbacks. It's OK to use but probably wouldn't buy it again.

Not good enough for high value motorcylces
This disk lock looks good at first sight, but be aware of its shortcomings. Firstly the alarm module got loose after 6 months of use, meaning that you have a piece of plastic where the wheel disk is suppose to go, I was still able to lock it but it was quite annoying. Secondly this disk lock is not robust at all, a motivated thief will break this device in less than 30 seconds, remove the alarm module and be on clear 40 secs after starting. I am not exaggerating here, that happened to me.So why 3 stars? Well, I think is good enough for a moped or small bike, but if you are serious about security I would stay away of this one. Overall not a terrible product but I think that it shouldn't be advertised as a high quality (remember: alarm falling off...) or high security (seriously, broke without electrical tools) one.

Sturdy lock, absolutely rubbish alarm.
The lock looks and feels very sturdy, however the locking mechanism is fiddly to undo with the key, taking a number of attempts to undo completely, and of course the alarm is going off whilst you are doing this. I leave for work early in the morning and the alarm going off at 5:15 am is not welcome. Mind you the alarm goes off all the time randomly for no reason; with the bike on its main or side stand, in a garage (so no wind) it just goes off. I can set it and it might be OK all night, other nights its OK for 10 minutes and then repeatedly goes off, I am now at the point of simply taking the battery out. How can someone bring something so obviously faulty to market?UPDATE: Parked at Premier Inn, fitted the disk lock and as I walked away the alarm went off. Removed and fitted it in a different position on the front disk and it went off within 30 seconds. Took is off and mounted it on the other disk and waited. Nothing, great, got halfway across the car park and off it went again. I then removed the battery.

Very solid disc lock, very bad alarm system!
The disc lock is obviously of great quality in terms of material and make.It feels solid and it has a good weight which I translate to a well made disc lock.Unfortunately I have to give three stars as the alarm is impossible to use as it is extremely sensitive and even the slight touch make it go off and that means that you will have the alarm go off every single time you take it off the bike.I store it under the seat of my motorbike and on one occasion I had the alarm going off occasionally for the whole trip to work.I then decided to take the battery out and use the disc lock as a normal disc lock.
