Highly Recommended for Waldorf Families / Early Childhood / Storytelling
This is a lovely early childhood book for Waldorf families... I absolutely suggest adding it to your collection if you are looking for stories to read or tell your child! Unlike some other Waldorf storytelling books there aren't puppetry ideas or directions for circle time movement games or sheet music for singing or other musical accompaniment to the tale. It is simply a beautiful age-appropriate compilation of gentle nature-oriented stories for little ones. This is the kind of book you give to a new mother and father! And then you get a copy for yourself too and you end up lending that one to a friend and never getting it back... so maybe you should just go ahead and get three! Here is the Table of Contents, which is what I always want to know when I'm considering buying a book:Simple Stories to Start With:Good Morning, Mr. JayRimple and DimpleThe Hungry BunnyMister Grieder's FarmAnd the Little One Said...The Lost JewelGood Night, Baby BearNature Tales:The Harvest MouseAutumn BearThe Snowflake and the LeafThe SnowdropThe Oriole's JourneySmall CloudThe Story of a ButterflyMother SpiderStories for Seasons and Festivals:Michael and the DragonThe Boy Who Spoke the TruthThe Golden Star FlowersMother Earth and the LeavesThe Old Owl on the FarmWinifred Witch and Her Golden CatThe Big Red AppleThe Harvest GiftSquirrel Nutkin's ThanksgivingHugin and the Shooting StarsFiochetto BiancoThe Golden LanternHugin's LanternMother Earth's ChildrenSilvercap, King of the Frost FairiesThe Crystal CaveThe Child of LightHoly NightsThe Polar BearA Million ValentinesLeprechaun's GoldLady Spring ArrivesThe Mud MuffinsThe Little Pine TreeThe Old Woman and the TulipsGrandfather Tomten and the Easter SurpriseGolden Rabbit and the Rainbow EggsThe Caterpillar's JourneyCorn Child and the Queen of NightJimmy Acorn StoriesWorking and Helping:The Little Girl Who Would Not WorkThe Legend of the WoodpeckerLittle Squirrel and the Mysterious KnockingThe New Red DressThe Sheep and the PigThe Silent MaidenThe Farmer PrinceThe Shining LoafThe Dragonfly's TaleThe Fisherman and the QuiltmakerDo What You CanJourneys and Wonders:The Story of the Mountain PearsThe Sun's SistersThe Golden Pine ConesPeter, Paul, and EspenThe Magic Lake at the End of the WorldThe Dragon's GateHans and the Wonderful FlowerHidden WatersThe Sword of a True KnightWild Goose LakeScarfaceHealing Stories for Special Situations:The Little Seed's JourneyTwo FriendsKnock, KnockMouse Goes Looking for a HouseFor Anastasia and Her Dear GrandmotherShuna, Teller of TalesThe Wise Woman and the Magical GardenThe Golden FishLittle Birds and Big BugsEnding With Laughter:The Travels of a FoxLittle Half-ChickThe Boy Who Tried to Fool His FatherThe Red SheepGecko's ComplaintHow to Break a Bad HabitThis collection of stories takes a spot on your shelf for sure, probably beside the Tiptoes Lightly series by Reg Down, Healing Stories for Challenging Behavior by Susan Perrow, and The Breathing Circle: Learning through the Movement of the Natural Breath by Nell Smyth.

Engaging and with a moral too.
I am a homeschooling mom with a 6 and 3 year old. I do a little circle time in the morning with finger play and basic Waldorf type rhymes/activities. I usually read a story from our collection or from books we choose at the library, but felt like something was missing. I am not really into the Grimm's fairy tales, (which I know is Waldorf sacrilege) but I can't get beyond the unhelpful dichotomies of good/bad, pretty/ugly, princess being saved by a man after straying outside of her gender role...anyway.Another reason I chose this book was because of another reviewer's point that it is important for kids to simply listen and use their imagination, not always be looking at picture books. So, I really like this book and so do my kids. There are lovely stories that capture the imagination and also have the good strong values that I want to encourage in my kids. There are stories about cleverness, hard work and kind heart, about growing one's food and knowing the bounty of the earth, about taking care of others and singing a song through it all.Highly recommended whether you home school or not- we now read these for bedtime stories as well!

Worth every cent!
We LOVE this book and love bringing these stories alive. Sometimes we act them out with puppets or peg dolls or stuffies sometimes we draw them out, snag site words from these stories, research ideas that come up in these stories, yโall about the morals, and my kids have even learned to read with this book. We have used this books over and over again for the past 3 years as homeschoolers. For anyone who says itโs boring, well, they just didnโt make it come alive.Just purchased โTell Me Another Storyโ and we are excited to check it out. We also use the Waldorf Book of Poetry over and over again.Highly recommend!

Fabulous!
Whether you're a Waldorf family or not, these stories are amazing! Filled with imagination, heart, empathy, and wisdom. This could be the only book on my child's book shelf and we'd never get bored or go wanting. Our daughter is 4 and in a Waldorf school, but this would also be good for younger kids and older kids alike. We took it camping to read around the campfire, and we had adults walking by getting into the stories and asking to sit and listen. Yes, it's that good!

Nice collection of short stories for toddlers
This has been a wonderful bedtime book for us. Most of its stories have no illustrations. The few that do just have a simple black & white drawing. Which is great! Because my little one doesn't feel the need (or want) to try to read along and see the pictures, I am able to read the book in a dark room just by a reading light. For us, having lights out helps with the transition to sleep. Also, the length of the stories are just right. There are plenty of stories, too, so I haven't gotten bored reading the same ones over and over, although there are some favorites that have been requested several times.

Amazing story book
So at first I was underwhelmed, very few pictures and none in color. Then my son(4) and I started reading this before bedtime. Now, it's the only book he wants read to him. The stories are wonderful, unique, full of adventure. Some have lesson and morals and some are simply fun and engage the imagination. We love this book!

Enjoyable
I was expecting more of a book that helped me to make up my own stories, but this is actually a book filled with short tales. We have fun acting out the stories with dolls/figures. But some of the stories are a bit long and my child loses attention quickly.

I am a Kindergarten teacher. I read 1 story ...
I am a Kindergarten teacher. I read 1 story each day as the kids come in from recess and transition to being back in the classroom. The stories are gentle and encourage imagination and care for other and the earth. Some even have instructions for how to present them as puppet show. The kids respond well to them.

Must have book
Must have stories for your little ones. Interesting with lots of learning. Beat part is your child wonโt feel that you are trying to teach something at all. My daughter loves the stories and it has built reading habits in her. Though she canโt read but she will sit with the book every day and ask me to read.

Cosy Comfort Book!
So many sweet and comforting stories. My 3 and a half year old loves this book but it would absolutely be appropriate for older children as well.

Great book
Lovely stories. This was the second copy we bought as we had to buy for a friends birthday - they also love the stories

Very valuable stories for young children!
Lovely stories for preschool aged children. I like that it is divided into seasons and other sections, and some suggestions are given for using table top puppets. Really great book because it allows children to use their own imaginations or watch a simple puppet play instead of being shown pictures each time a story is read to them. There are other author's notes to help us understand why a story may be of value to children such as the section on Healing stories for special situations which my support children in sharing and including, separation anxiety, or with a loss.
