All wood has natural characteristics such as knots, small cracks, and, irregular grain. These natural blemishes will not affect the durability of the display. The display ships disassembled and only takes a minute to put together. You may glue the pieces in place for greater stability. The stand measures about 17.75"x5.25". There are 8 slots on each side and 8 removable pegs on the back for keeping necklaces in place. Keep in mind that wood varies in color, figure, and texture, with no two boards looking exactly the same. There are even color varieties within each species. The wood I use for this display is called alder. It is an eco-friendly and sustainable hardwood grown in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Alder is almost white when freshly cut, but quickly changes on exposure to air, becoming light brown with a yellow or reddish tinge. After cutting and sanding each piece, I apply a dark wood stain to achieve the final color. I try my best to accurately represent the final color in the photos, but each piece of wood can turn out lighter or darker depending on the density of wood, amount of wood grain, and wood coloring prior to stain.
