Review: Reliable Budget Field Monitor That Still Performs Well - I purchased the Neewer F100 7-inch field monitor in 2020 and it’s still working well today. It fits nicely on my camera rig and is very easy to use. The 1280x800 IPS screen is bright enough for most indoor and shaded outdoor shoots, and the matte finish helps reduce glare. Colors look decent and the viewing angles are good, which makes it useful for framing and checking focus while filming. The focus peaking and check field features are very helpful for video work, especially when pulling focus manually. It’s not a true 4K display, but for monitoring purposes the image is sharp and accurate enough. The monitor is not touch screen, but it’s very lightweight and the shoe mount works perfectly. It’s also very compatible with different camera setups. Pros: • Still working well after years of use • Very lightweight and easy to mount • IPS screen with good viewing angles • Focus peaking and field check are very useful • Good image quality for monitoring Cons: • Not bright enough for direct sunlight • Battery not included • Resolution is fine for monitoring, not for critical color grading • Not a touchscreen Conclusion: The Neewer F100 is a solid budget field monitor for video work. It’s reliable, lightweight, and offers useful tools like focus peaking at a great price. If you need a dependable on-camera monitor and don’t expect ultra-bright outdoor performance, this is a great value.
Review: Great value monitor for 4K value action cams - I purchased an Akaso V50 Elite and Brave 6 action cam. Both are capable of recording 4K video and have mini HDMI output connectors. The V50 elite can record up to 4K@60FPS and the Brave 6 up to 4K@24FPS. My main intent for these action cams are to create some Youtube videos. However, what I learned soon after purchasing the cams was that it was difficult making sure the video I was recording was in frame when the back of the screen of the cam was facing the other way and an external video monitor should help me solve that problem. What I was really unsure about when purchasing this monitor was would it be able to display the video when the action cams were in 4K record operation modes. I was pleased to learn that this monitor was capable. I also wasn't quite sure even if the action cams were in 4K mode, the resolution which it would be putting out from the HDMI output. What I discovered with the Akaso V50 elite is that when it was set to 4K@60FPS resolution and recording, it would output 720p@60Hz but when not recording it would output 4K (3840x2160@30Hz). This video monitor was able to switch seamlessly with the different outputs being fed from the Akaso action cams. The video display quality seems good to me but that wasn't as important to me for my uses. I just wanted to make sure I was able to monitor what the cam was seeing regardless of the resolution mode I was recording at from the action cam, and it definitely is able to do that. The pictures I included displays what the action cam is feeding it when the cam isn't recording and when it is recording. Another thing that is confusing is with the type of batteries that you can connect to this display. It says it supports 'Sony NP-F550" which is true but I would recommend to not purchase that series of batteries but instead purchase Sony NP-F750/NP-F770 series batteries instead. The reason is that NP-F550 batteries are 2600mAH and may last 1-2 hours max on a single charge. The NP-F750 batteries are 5200mAH and will last twice as long on a single charge while at the same time are about the same price as the NP-F550 size batteries. The NP-F750 batteries are about double the size as the NP-F550 batteries since they are double the life but I don't feel they're too big to attach to this monitor. The only problem I have had with this monitor is with the HDMI connection in a couple of instances. It comes with a bracket which will hold the HDMI cable more secure which I have not tried. I had some difficulties where I found myself jiggling the cable and the monitor was not displaying the video due to the micro to full size HDMI cable connected between the cam and the monitor. However, I am unsure at this time if that problem was due to the camera side connection, the monitor side connection or the cable itself. I will update my review once I've had more time to use this setup and am able to determine if the monitor HDMI connection is the problem or not. Also speaking to the HDMI cable it comes with a Mini to HDMI cable, where I wish it came with a Micro to HDMI cable instead.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I see that this does not come with a power source but what size DC input does it take?**
A: I wish someone had answered this more completely!

The version I bought (7"Full HD) says "does not come with a battery or power source". I didn't really understand exactly what was needed, so I bought it anyway, being hopeful that you could plug in a standard micro- or mini-USB and use it that way .. but you can't. It requires EITHER power adapter OR a battery which you need to supply separately.
- The power supply you need can by DC 7-24V (I had a 19V adapter on hand and it works fine). The connector for the power cord is a Female Barrel Connector .. though I don't know how the size is measured.
- the monitor has a "battery plate" installed on the back of the display, and the idea is that you can use a camera battery you already have .. if you get the correct plate adapter. The manual shows different Battery Plate models -- F970, LP-E6. If I had known this -- I'd have got a "U60 battery plate" which will work with Sony DV camcorder batteries.

**Q: Could someone provide a link to a power adapter that would definitely work for this?**
A: Viltrox 12V 2A LED Light power supply works. Available on Amazon, $16.

**Q: does it work with a Nikon D7200?**
A: I use this with my D7100 every shoot. No issues. I’m sure you’ve got the same mini HDMI out that I’ve got.

**Q: Will this work with my Sony a6000?**
A: Yes, I have used with different Sony cameras. Just make sure you have the right HDMI cable. It comes with one cable but not all cameras have the same size conector. Cable is inexpensive, I think it uses hdmi micro.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great value
*by M***H on August 16, 2023*

I have been using this for about 2 weeks to cover sports. I shoot video and photos and have to say that this monitor is great. It's easy to see, battery lasts a long time, and does everything you want it to do. The hotshoe connection sucks and allows the monitor to spin around. I found that you will need to replace it. There is a lag from turning on my camera to the display on the monitor, though I'm not sure if that is due to my cameras or the monitor.
