Storage Information | Our dehydrated recipes are naturally shelf stable and should be stored in a cool, dry place – out of sunlight. We don’t recommend refrigerating our food when it’s dry, because this can introduce moisture. If you want to freeze the food, you should hydrate it first (some of our customers like to freeze in individual pre-made portions). If you do choose to place the dry food in the freezer, we recommend keeping the box in the freezer for the remainder of its use. |

Great Product
I like this product, thankfully I had used it previously and knew the ingredients and the mixing directions because when it shipped it did not come in its packaging! It arrived loose in its bag!

Doesn’t stink, but takes some trial and error
My dogs love this stuff, but it took me a while to get the water to powder ratio and temperature correct. If the water is too cold or too hot, the mixture of water and powder won’t combine correctly and it’ll separate. I found that microwaving equal parts water for 1 minute and then mixing it with the powder is the best way to do it, which I’ve done in the video. I also love that it doesn’t stink like a lot of wet dog food does. The chicken recipe of this same brand smells awful, but this one has very little smell.

One of the best dog foods out there and comes in many varieties if your dog has allergies.
My dog loves this food, and she is Miss Picky. I'm trying to see if she has a chicken allergy (again) and she's been eating the grain-free beef variety. She loves it! She comes to get me and asks for dinner now. This is a great food for older dogs whose teeth aren't the best any more, because you choose the consistency. Andi loves the turkey variety, too.Be sure to buy the grain-free versions of The Honest Kitchen. The grain-inclusive varieties are heavy on peas, which dogs don't tolerate well and which provide zero nutrition. Cheap fillers. A four-pound box of THK will last my dachshund six weeks. She also eats Farmina grain-free N&D kibble, which I leave out for her. She has a secret life at night while I'm asleep, and she likes to eat her Farmina then. It's a great food, all varieties of it, and it comes in several varieties too, which makes avoiding allergens easy. Andi eats the wild boar and apple variety. Their canned food is also excellent, but unfortunately any canned food gives my dog diarrhea. My dog also gets home cooking when it is to be had. Variety is the spice of life! But, even while I'm cooking, she comes in and begs for her Honest Kitchen dinner. She's still able to sit up and take a little nourishment when the home cooking gets ready.I would recommend all grain-free varieties of The Honest Kitchen to anyone. It isn't practical for a large dog or for three or four dogs unless they are small or medium dogs. But my dog loves it, the food agrees with her, and we're able to avoid chicken completely this way. The Farmina I mentioned is the top kibble made, in my book and in the eyes of most of the members of a dog food/nutrition group I belong to on FB. I'd recommend Farmina to anyone, too.
