Understandable
This is part of a collection of the best language teaching I have ever come across. This man is kind and makes you understand with no effort. I wanted more advanced books but discovered that Paul had died. It was like losing a friend. I send my regrets to his family.

EASY PEASY
Makes learning Italian easy and fun. Makes understanding construction of sentences simple. No learning thousands of words then not being able to put them together. This is not work. It's a natural way to learn without trying to learn. Thoroughly enjoying it.

Really Valuable Addition to Learning Italian Library.
This is a really valuable addition to the Learning Italian collection. The author has included a lot of very useful words and devices which we all use routinely when we are in conversation, whatever language we're speaking in. Conjunctions like "so" and "then", or phrases like "I was just about to" or "I was in the middle of doing it when". These are things we all say when we speak English for example and, as Paul Noble says, although someone may have studied Italian for quite a while, they'll be very hard pressed to come up with how to say them in Italian if you ask them.Paul's approach bears a significant similarity to that of Michel Thomas, in that there is no requirement to learn vocabulary in the normal way. His approach guides you through learning to say typical phrases that we all might say when conversing and thereby accumulating a usable vocabulary as a byproduct of that approach. There are vocabulary tests at the end of each chapter, but they're very short and are accumulative as you work your way through the book. I have been trying to learn Italian for around 2 years now, using first Duolingo and more significantly Babbel. Babbel is very good, but it won't teach you how to say the sort of things that Paul's approach will.Very much recommended. Why 4 stars instead of 5? Because I found myself wanting more when I'd finished!

Enjoyable and apparently effective
I've learned a lot of bits of Italian from a lot of books (and a few weeks in Italy), but never stuck with a book as well as this one. I am a language teacher, so I have a bit of experience with language learning. I haven't finished this book yet so I don't know what the takeaway will be, but it's a fun read and the repetition is built in so that you don't have to force yourself to memorize vocab, which is very cool and different from other books. Downside so far is limited vocab, but it seems like he's giving you structures to build on (sort of launching-point words and constructions). But so far I'm very pleased with this and considering getting the French one for some review.

Solid approach to a new language.
Bought kindle version for 99p as a daily deal. Incredible value for a quality language course. I have a CD Spanish and Audible French and Italian versions of Paul Noble courses and they all take 5he same approach; build on what you already know of the language ( probably more than you think), and don’t try to remember everything as you progress. It works and this is certainly an excellent introduction to a new language.Only drawback with kindle version is some of the text is green. It’s important to be able to distinguish it as you complete the questions. So you need to display on a tablet or device which supports colour rather than a kindle e-reader. Still highly recommended.

Great introduction to speaking Italian
Paul's method helps get an understanding of how Italian works, so you feel you can start communicating immediately. The book is really well structured, and gets a good balance between introducing new language and ideas and constantly practising using it.This book has given me the confidence to start learning Italian, and is great preparation for my holiday in Italy this summer.

I thought this book was very good. I found the repetition most helpful for my bad memory ! I would have liked a CD with it though the phonics in italics were OK but didn't say on which syllable to put the stress. I would have liked a follow up book too.
