Perfect for golf
I got this from my husband who has a little bit of eyesight and he loves this, not only for the distance of where the balls at, but also to find the ball

I prefer that it uses a battery
My initial assessment is that this is a pretty good rangefinder for golf. I prefer that it use a battery, rather than having to worry about constantly charging it. The batteries are inexpensive and easy to obtain from ebay.I am using this to replace my Bushnell v2 of 17 years that I finally lost. So far, it has been excellent. One drawback is that vibration pin lock mode is connected to slope on mode.It might be nice if it had speed, and fog mode as some newer models.

Practical easy to use range finder
This is a standard 2-button range finder. It can be used in range mode or flag pole mode. There is also a velocity function that I have not used. As is the state of this art, the directions explaining the modes and how to use this device are less than clear. Best to take it outside and measure to trees, buildings, etc. to get the hang of it. The specs say it's good to 800 yds but I doubt there is a golf hole that lets you see more than 300 yds on that hole, which is farther than I'm going to hit it. This unit is simpler than others I have used because it does not have the equivalent distance function. If you're good enough for that function to be of use it's probably illegal for you. This unit does have a hand strap to help prevent drops. It does not have a strong magnet to attach it to a golf cart - but would you use it? It has the standard 6x magnification which is a great help. It comes with a soft case (hard would provide more protection) that has a belt loop (not for a wide belt) and a clip. The case (like most cases for most devices) does not have room for directions, etc. It does not need room for a USB cable because this unit uses replaceable CR2-3V batteries. This is a plus and minus. You can remove it from the unit when not in use and easily bring a spare, but a rechargeable battery and charger would have been a big plus. This is a 3 volt battery of very short size and light weight. I think they are used in other electronics that provide a USB charging cable but it's hard to say because those batteries tend to be built-in and inaccessible. A 18650 3.7 lithium battery (in my opinion) would have been a better choice because they are more common and chargers are readily available, but these are several times larger and I think they went for compact and light weight. All in all I think this is a great range finder that is not simply a clone of all the others. Its differences make sense for me but you will have to decide if they an advantage for you.

It helps but not always accurate
When it works, it works. Although, it does have trouble identifying the flag and distance on some holes, so it's not 100% reliable. It cannot identify a white flag, with clouds behind it, at all. It will also sometimes read the object behind the flag so you have to "somewhat" know your distance and/or validate the reading is reasonable. There were a couple of times (against my better judgement), I went with the reading when I was off of the fairway, only to hit it over the green. When in doubt, go "old school" and pace the distance off.

Works as advertised
Haven't been able to hit the links enough, but it works as noted. Great range finder and allows you to see clearly distance.

When it works it works great, but finicky to get a true reading sometimes.
I normally use a Garmin GPS golf watch (LOVE IT) but sometimes I forget to bring my watch so I wanted something to leave in my golf bag for those days I forget my watch.First totally worth mentioning, if you currently do not use any rangefinders, cell phones, watches or other devices for yardage you're totally missing out, once I started using my GPS golf watch my game drastically improved, also my confidence in my club yardage, not to mention its way more fun knowing exactly how far each shot travels, I highly recommend you use a yardage device of some sort, improves your game and escalates your fun.Review: This is my second rangefinder review, and like the other this device for me was a bit finicky also, guess I'm not really a "rangefinder" person. First let me begin by stating I have never used one of these rangefinder devices, just my watch, and this as far as I'm concerned really has no image stabilization, so was a tad tricky to line up with the top of the flag, especially at greater distances, and you have to line it up fairly good to get a true reading, otherwise you get the foreground or background and goodbye golf shot! I compared the distance reading on the rangefinder to that of my Garmin watch (which I know from several years of experience is extremely accurate) and my results varied greatly. My golf partner also had a GPS golf watch, our watch readings always matched almost to the yard, however it would take me several tries each time with the rangefinder to get a reading close to my watch, distances varied greatly, you have to be right on the top of the flag, so if I didn't have my watch to confirm distances I would have found myself relying on the rangefinders output which was erratic. In a pinch this would work out, better than not having anything to tell distance, but if your serious about your game I highly recommend you buy a golf watch, Garmin or otherwise, it's always accurate, has ALL the golf courses stored inside it, you know your yardage at a glance without having to grab a device out of your bag, and it has a A TON of features to help your game.
