The description says the 2-pack can support lids up to 50 lbs—so why is it still slamming shut?

From our experience, many customers’ lids are longer than 48" or wider than 24". Even if the lid is under 50 lbs, this is often why it still slams shut—larger lids create more leverage. So please measure your lid before buying it.

Can it be installed on either the left or right side?

Yes, if you purchase the 2-pack. Both hinges are the same, but you can remove the hinge from the mounting plate and then choose to install it on either the left or right side.
