Lolek - The Boy Who Became Pope John Paul II

Wow!! What an amazing book!! We have 5 children & I have read this to my 6 & 4 year olds. They absolutely love it!! The story is well written, has so much meaning, & shows young children how you can have faith at a young age. I think it is a very neat tool to use to show how anyone can become a great spiritual leader no matter what your background is. Also neat how one of our greatest leaders was "just a boy" at one time, kind of puts it in perspective for young children. The illustrations are beautiful & they have fun finding the hidden words "Totus Tuus" on each page. Highly recommend it for anyone, Catholic & non-Catholic.

Pope John Paul II was special to me, I was lucky enough to see him three times. I was looking for something to teach my 6 and 4 year old (and eventually my 18 month old) about him. I was happy to find this book, and I read it to them tonight, in honor of Saint John Paul II's canonization. It is a simple story, beautifully illustrated, that summarizes St. JP2's life and contains simple but powerful lessons about faith. And it kept their attention. I also sent a copy to my 11 year old goddaughter and she likes it too.

For children to read about this wonderful man as a boy is a beautiful opportunity for children to understand that this future great Pope and Saint experienced a childhood... but one filled with many challenges, losses and sufferings. Yet, his faith carried him through these experiences and he went on to live his faith and his life with God's gift of supernatural courage!

I have been wanting this book since it was first published. Since Pope John Paul II is becoming a saint in December I decided I couldn't put it off any longer. He will always have a special place in my heart and this story only makes me love him more.

Great saint book for kids and the adults who read it to them.

GREAT FOR YOUNG KIDS. MY GRANDCHILDREN LIKE IT. EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND NICELY ILLUSTRATED. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS FOR ALL YOUNG CHILDREN.

We gave this as a birthday gift to my goddaughter and her momma said they LOVED it! She said they have already read it several times and 'it is beautiful!'
