Preliminary research suggests that Resveratrol may be useful in treating Alhemier's, diabetes, cancer, high cholesterol, and cardiac problems. This research is in its infancy and much of it involves exposing cells to Resveratrol in the laboratory and observing the effects it has (benefical so far). However, this product is taken orally and digested in the human body. Digestion changes the chemical properties of the Resveratrol and we do not yet know the effects of metabolized (digested) Resveratrol on human cells.I am sure, given the hype and hope generated by initial research, that we will soon begin to see human studies examining whether Resveratrol actually does impact the course of various diseases or change death rates. Unfortunately much of the early research is what I think of as studying to see if locking the barn after the horse has been stolen will cause the horse to magically reappear. Scientists will give resveratrol to patients with Alzheimer's and see if it slows or reverses the disease process. We are learning that Alzheimer's develops slowly for 20-30 years before the onset of clearly observable symptoms. While it would be wonderful if Resveratrol could reverse a disease process which has been building for 20-40 years I will be surprised if that actually happens. I think the more realistic question is whether this product significantly reduces a healthy person's chances of developing diabetes, dementia, cardiac problems, etc.. It will take most of my remaining life time to definitively answer such questions.It does appear clear that Resveratrol is a mild blood thinner, so be cautious in taking it if you are already taking blood thinners or if you are already having difficulty with easy bruising and bleeding.The product is at the dosing level that is producing good results in laboratory tests (which are not directly applicable to real world use), has no taste or after effects that I can detect, and is considered safe for almost all humans.It has not changed the fact that my memory is not as good as it was 30 years ago. However, I watched my father die of complications related to Alzheimer's and I am very willing to spend a little money in the hopes of avoiding or at least postponing a similar fate. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tried a couple other companies and didn't like the lack of transparency but found this company's label ... *by S***R on Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2016* The owner offered me a free bottle of this stuff if I would write a review so here goes. I read an article about a UK scientist that had isolated a cell in the body that causes aging. He indicated it would be at least ten years before any product would come to market and was asked what he would do in the interim and he said he takes resveratrol. Seemed legit, so started taking it. Tried a couple other companies and didn't like the lack of transparency but found this company's label was pretty clear. The UK scientist said you need at least 2,000 mg. per day for it to work. Their label clearly advertises the mgs per capsule unlike the other companies. As for the authenticity of the product and what's in it, I have no idea because this stuff is not really subject to FDA or other regulatory requirements. Perhaps the owner can comment to provide some assurance as to what's in these little buggers we take daily. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I love resveratrol, and this one works as well as the pricier brands. *by T***T on Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2014* I originally bought resveratrol in a more expensive brand, and I didn't see any results. I tried a few types and then started using Amazon as my supplement source because I could read about the experiences of others in the product reviews. I started with this brand, because it was a good price and it got rated as well as the pricier ones. I read more on resevatrol in a generic sense and I decided to take 3 a day instead of 2, to see if it would have an even better effect on my "numbers" in the routine bloodwork I'd get done. It definitely made my cholesterol reading improve, and later when I combined it with niacin, it produced the kind of results a statin should without any of the harmful effects. It also improves blood circulation, which is a good thing in the cold months. It does wonders for the pallor which my skin tends to have. The key is take it consistently. Try not to skip days. After reading other peoples reviews, I want to try adding curcumin to my regimen and see if it has good effects on hair growth too.
