The Iceman: The True Story of a Cold-Blooded Killer Review: Chilling and Riveting - Anthony Bruno wrote a great biography that is fascinating, chilling, and will almost make you wince sometimes at just how twisted the mind of cold hearted killer can be. This story, unlike stories of crazy psychopaths who seem out of their minds, this story tells of someone who was cold, brutal and calculating. Richard Kuklinski adored his children, showered them gifts and everything money could buy. Yet he killed people in ways that were not only brutal but took time to experiment, did it with curiosity at times and seem to enjoy it. It is disturbing in that there are Mafioso and hit men who believed in what they were doing or were just crazy as hell. Richard Kuklinski was just a cold hearted killer. This story is fascinating and yet more disturbing in some ways than other stories I have read on similar subjects. I truly take my hat off to the author for writing a great biography. Review: Fascinating journey into the life of a serial killer. - It's almost criminal to admit I loved this story about Richard Kuklinski but it was one hell of a good read. The man was truly maniacal as a modern day Mr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - contract killer and family man. I've seen the HBO interviews with him in jail and the movie with Michael Shannon. The book was just as fascinating but with additional details. This is definitely a must read for people who enjoy stories about true crimes. What makes this man scarier than Jason Voorhees or Michael Myers from the horror movies is that he really committed the crimes. The only thing in common is that no one really knows what the body count really is!

Richard Kuklinski a six foot five inch 300 plus pound mad who lived a life of crime from dubbing porn to theft to the worst crim
This book about the iceman, Richard Kuklinski a six foot five inch 300 plus pound mad who lived a life of crime from dubbing porn to theft to the worst crime a human can commit murder and not just one murder but hundreds so many he cant give an exact number. This book really captured my imagination and gave me a different outlook on some of the things Richard has done. I don't want to say I'm a fan but I find Richard very interesting and would say I am pretty well read on him and some of the crimes he has been apart of. I thought the style of this book worked well because it outlined his life and then dove deep into his mind and picked and pulled to get a different look at some of the horrible things he has done in his life from his childhood to his first murder to the day he was captured It was the full picture. I would recommend this book to anyone who's as fascinated about serial killers as I am and just the everyday reader that wants to be hit with a dose of true unfiltered horror.

Entertaining, not authentic
This book is well written and compelling, but reads more like a fictional novel than a biography. Much like the film featured on the cover, the author has taken liberties with the "true" story of Kuklinski. Yes, it is true that once in prison Kuklinski embellished many stories and his words are hard to take as fact, but there are some instances where the events portrayed in this book are not consistent with the story. Important events like Richard's childhood and early life with his wife are glossed over, and murders and other situations are not consistent with what was detailed in other biographies and in the HBO documentaries. While entertaining, this novel spends a lot of time dramatizing behind the scenes investigative meetings and not enough time detailing what a true psychopath Kuklinski was. If you are interested in the "Iceman" I'd much rather recommend the late Philip Carlo's biography of the same name. It is much more comprehensive and detailed and uses much less creative liberty. Also, avoid seeing the film. It is so loosely based on Kuklinski's story it is almost like the actual events never happened.

Iceman: a cold-blooded killer
The book I read by Anthony Bruno about the Iceman, Richard Kuklinski, was very chilling, and I could not put it down. It went to great detail how he planned his killings, his ever-changing methods such as knives, guns, and his favorite, cyanide, because detecting it was difficult & it killed quickly. A friend of my family, "Dom", was the udercover agent for the ATF who met him at the Vince Lombardi rest-stop on the NJ Turnpike to record in detail the Iceman's next victim. "Dom" acted as if he wanted to hire Kuklinski for a hit. I have a lot respect for "Dom", because his life was on the line meeting with such a killer. He earned the "Iceman" name because he hid a body in a freezer for over 2 years so it could not be identified. Hard to believe someone this cold-blooded lived that close to me. The book also mentions places he dumped bodies that I know well, such as "Harry's Corner" in Little Ferry, NJ. They say he was a family-oriented man, but a lot of people close to him didn't know about his "other personality." I think he he learned to be "bad" because he grew up with abusive parents. I reccommend this book & the DVD "The Iceman-Confessions of a Mafia Hitman". The Iceman is interviewed, and it show that he has no remorse for what he has done. He made alot money due to the killings. I understand a new movie will be coming out, and I plan on seeing it.
