Works (with more than Palo Alto), but gets really hot
The BAD: --It gets hot. Really hot. I worry about thermal failure--or worse!--in the near term. --I question the source and because of this would never use this in production (maybe OK for home lab). The listing says OPSTRAN, the device says Fibay, and there are SEVERAL other listings with different names and labels. --Would sometimes not play nice with other transceivers at 1310nm. I'd recommending buying and using these transceivers in a pair to be sure of compatibility. The GOOD: --It does what it is supposed to, at gigabit speeds. --Works in more than just Palo Alto (tested in Ubiquiti and StarTech SFP ports). I don't have a long enough piece of fiber to test the full 20km claim at present, but am working on at least replacing my 10km test spool. So this testing was done on 250', 500', and 1km spools.

Great Cisco Transceiver Module
I tested the OPSTRAN Gigabit SFP transceiver module with one of my Cisco switches. The module works perfectly and has very fast speed capabilities. At under twenty dollars, this product is an excellent value. I also tested this product in a generic SFP form factor slot on a commercial PoE router that also has a breakout port for fiber SFP modules. The product works as described in the listing.

Seems to work on Cisco switches
There was no configuration necessary, just plugged it into both my Cisco SG350 and S200 switches, let each switch power it up, hooked up some LC fiber cables to another switch, and it just started working at 1Gbe. It was a pretty painless process. The stats for power usage and link speed showed up in the Cisco UI, so it does appear to be supported.

Nice hot-pluggable SFP unit
Easy to use and configure. Was recognized immediately by the HP switch and able to connect it to my main network via fiber to my main network (using extreme networks).
