Where all they run ther services through is already pre-existing!? (except expanding FiOS) ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I am NOT willing to pay these suckers $20+ Each and every month for a VoIP service they provide!I'm not affiliated with NetTALK nor being sponsored by them and am reviewing product and service I have purchased years ago and reflecting my own feelings and actual facts after these years.Simply, Forget it Comcast, Verizon, Who ever else! Eat ****! $160+ a year for what? I've been on NetTALK since december 2016. Wish I would be on it for as long as it exists, why? I would have saved few hundreds to thousands of dollars more and get the same service.Okay, the catch is that this may not be for everyone, but only because it does require a knowledgeable person who understands how to wire routers, log onto them and manage services; However though, the box comes with the instructions that are made to be understood and proceeded through in a simple logical manner, and heck, worse comes to worse there are even manual guides and videos online one could browse through if necessary.Look it up for this device, your router model and ahead you go for great savings and telling your phone company in advance that you are not willing to keep getting ripped off!Porting process requires a conversation with NetTALK customer support. It starts with chatting, which isnt responded to you in seconds, rather days! Did I mind? Absolutely not because the rewards at the end are well worth it. This is why I dont understand people complaining about them all over the internet.Sure there are call quality issues too, but again, understand that you need to do everything that is being told and neatly explained to you What to do and that is, On your router, create an IP address reservation for this particular device in your network, say, 192.168.2.5 and make it associated with NetTALK DUO's mac address so that itll become a static IP address in DHCP environment (Dynamic Host Configuration protocol - a protocol that assigns various ip addresses to all and any various devices wireless or wired connected and disconnected at any given time-this gives and takes IP addresses as you connect and disconnect, plug and unplug to your home network).This device now becomes permanently bonded in its own reserved IP address which is now also used to log in and maintain the NetDUO within its Web user interface that would be typing 192.168.2.5 in the internet browsers url address bar. If you wont reserve an IP address for this device, you dont deserve to rate this product whatsoever.Next thing to do is assign a port forwarding service to an IP of given NetTALK duo device, and the Port that needs to be forwarded is 5085 UDP both internal and external. This will stop any issues you may have with call clarity, if problems persists still, open the DMZ gate for and only this devices IP. I'm not willing to do that in my home network but know theres that failsafe option if things dont go as they should. In my case however it is not required at all. The sound quality is great and having this along with the modem and router on battery backup UPS, you will have phone service even during the power outage. Why would I pay my phone service that rents out a modem box, with small battery that wont last over 2 hour period of power outage any additional monthly rental fee if I could have my own Modem and UPS for a one time investment that will pay back in as little as 6 months of not having phone service from giant providers?Even better, theres more saving coming in afterwards! Its easy, and this particular device (call it a phone line server) here, allows you to use your own phone (client) you have with your internet/phone provider, thus the device is cheap and independent on the phone handsets (clients) of your own choice as long as it connects through standard RJ45 phone-jack connector. No ties like Ooma forcing you to use their handsets (clients) to connect to their wireless modems (server). NetTALK duo solution simply uses old school RJ45 connector, not to forget to mention YOU are not to use splitter for multiple standalone handsets. This is Digital and just like with comcasts or verizons fios modes you can only use ONE wire that will work, thus you may need a wireless phone base station with multiple phone handsets to have more phones placed throughout your house. The yearly costs are less than 25% compared to that of the giants that are constantly ripping you off month after month after month. Dont let them do that to you. Im glad I cut the phone wire with them. I saved a LOT and never had an issue with the device nor the service, NetTALK VoIP is working 24/7/365. How do I know? I hear the phone ringing everyday, majority of which are the spam, robo callers. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Device is ok when working.... *by N***6 on Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2014* Compare Duo II to Magic Jack (mixed feelings). I used the Magic Jack since it came out and overall was o.k. but still had flaws with voice quality (and I am running a DOCSIS 3 modem with a 50 mb data rate on my modem). With the increase in MJ price and the shortened contract time (now 6 months instead of 1 year before renewal), I decided to try Nettalk Duo IIWith Duo II the on-line options are better than MJ. I am able to do more with Net Talk such as turning on or off the voice message, so I can use my own answering machine at home. I also have more * (star) number functions that give me info about my device too. I can add numbers for speed dialing or blocking, and other options that Magic Jack did not offer.Setting up the Duo II was easy and I made adjustment to my AC1750 Router for the Duo II. What I dislike is the quality still could be better. Many times there seems to be a delay while talking to someone (as if there is a vox function), so when both of us are talking at once, some of the message is not heard and you have to repeat it when the other person is quiet. Kinda like talking on a radio, only one person talking at a time. Other times the device loses connections but since I have tweaked my AC1750 Router it seems to be better. The ring pattern is really strange too but don't care too much so long as the device works.Overall, I think the connection (up time) with Magic Jack was better.... but for the price and trade off, in the long run Duo II is a better choice for price and various options. I bought my Net Talk Duo II new (on line) for $29.95 including 3 months of service, whereas most are selling out there for $40's or $50's - you need to shop around.Will try it over the next few months and see how things go....... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Affordable VoiP Phone Service *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2020* This device adds a "landline" to your home at a very affordable price, especially if you don't use a landline much. I have a weak cell signal in my home and frequently drop calls on my cellphone. It works just fine, the only time it goes down is if the internet is down, and that is not the fault of the device. Setup is easy and the tech support is great, they helped me transfer service from an old, defective device to the new one and they made it very easy to follow the steps. They actually did all the work on their end, and in a few minutes it just started working.
