The only way the a cat is going to be shocked is if the button is engaged and licks it. I would doubt there would be a human that would hold the button on while a cat was in close proximity. I'm thinking like likely hood of a cat getting zapped is about zero. But in the case of an odd set of events a cat does get zapped, it likely would not injure the cat. It wouldn't like it for sure.
