Kwikset Powerbolt 250 10-Button Keypad Matte Black Transitional Electronic Deadbolt Door Lock, Featuring Convenient Keyless Entry, Customizable User Codes and Auto-Locking

I love this lock. I wanted a simple electronic lock that was not connected to the internet, had a physical key option, and should have a long battery life, and this was a perfect choice. I have it on my garage door so I don't have to fumble for my keys when my hands are full with grocery bags or work stuff, and also so I can easily lock that door while my garage door is up and I'm busy mowing my backyard without needing to keep keys on me. The deadbolt was easy to install on my door, but I did have to make some minor adjustments inside the hole in the door jamb because the deadbolt would not engage properly at first unless the door was just barely closed. After I chipped away a little bit of wood in the hole the lock has worked flawlessly. I already have four Kwikset deadbolts and doorknobs, so I am familiar with Smartkey and being able to re-key the lock myself. I think Smarkey is a real advantage over other brands without this feature. The only thing I don't like about this lock is the strike plate is just a flat rectangle and it does not have an extended rounded front edge that slightly curves and wraps around the trim like the strike plates on all of my other Kwikset locks, knobs and handles. I recently replaced 11 door handles (also Kwikset) inside my house and all of them had the rounded strike plates so it is odd that this deadbolt does not have that. Now I'm left with a small strip of raw wood that used to be covered up by the old strike plate. I suppose I could try to re-use the old strike plate, or I can patch up that spot of trim the next time I do a paint project around the house. Right now the convenience of the deadbolt far outweighs the gap in the trim.

Well-functioning lock with the option of both keypad and key. We wanted a lock with the keypad option and got this a few weeks ago, and have so far been very satisfied. I really like that it also has a regular key option. It was easy to install and program. One surprising feature that we have loved and has come in very handy has been the possibility of making one-time codes. We had some work done on our house, and it was very convenient to be able to give a one time code when we were away. It is also possible to make multiple codes, so house members can have personal ones. Style wise, the matte black looks clean and it has been a good size for our door. My one comment is that it was a little short in comparison to the previous lock, so we had to do a layer of paint to cover up some marks from that. Pros: - easy to program codes - versatile code options - good width Cons: - might be a little short (compared to other locks) It would be good for anyone looking for a lock with a keypad and key option. So far we’ve been happy with the purchase.

Installed the lock on door connecting house to garage. Install didn't require any modification to the door, but the lock wouldn't let me program any codes. Tried all of the various programming options and the only one that worked was the one that turned off the annoying beeping. AI customer support just told me to do all the things I had already done. Finally got through to a real person, she had me do a program-clearing step that wasn't mentioned in the directions and the lock then would accept new codes and worked... for about one hour. Then it refused to lock or unlock the deadbolt. Called CS again, this time refused to deal with AI and got to a real person. She first told me the through bolts that hold the keypad and locking plate on opposite sides of the door were too tight. Loosened them, no change in lock behavior. Then she told me I was using the WRONG BRAND OF BATTERIES!!! (Say, What?!) I said I had put brand new AA batteries in it and had tested them all before installation and they worked fine for the first hour. Furthermore, nowhere in the instructions did it say I had to use a particular brand of AAs. She said to get some Duracell or Energizer batteries and then call CS back. When I went to HD to get some other batteries, I also picked up a digital lock made by the S company. The Duracell batteries didn't work any better than the Amazon batteries I used before. Tired of calling CS; just took the lock out and installed the S lock, which works just fine. Returning Kwikset to Amazon and will be avoiding Kwikset locks in the future, at least the digital ones.

I’m really happy with this keypad deadbolt. Being able to enter a code instead of having to use a key is incredibly convenient, especially when I’m carrying things or coming home with my hands full. The keypad is easy to use and the lock has a nice, sturdy feel. I also really like not having to worry about keeping track of a physical key every time I need to get inside. It gives the door a more modern feel while still being straightforward to use. Overall, a great combination of convenience, security, and functionality

We bought three of these after staying at an airbnb a month ago. We loved it so much we bought one for all our doors. Two worked fine, one didn't work correctly. Of the two that worked, they were easy to install, easy to program and they are so easy to use. It was also easy to rekey one to the other, so we only need one key, just in case the battery dies or it malfunctions. Anyway, a nice upgrade to our old locks, almost like we're in the 21 century. Only got 4 stars because we had to send one back.

I have two of these deadbolts, & two of the keypad door locks. They are dependable, easy to install, & use. Even if the battery dies, they can be locked, & unlocked with with a key. This deadbolt, can also be re-keyed for additional security. I originally purchased this to allow a visiting family member to come & go without having to issue them a key. Another great feature is you can have different combinations for different purposes; one can be issued to a guest, another can be given to a contractor, & one for yourself. At any point, any, or all, combination(s) can be deleted, or reset to another combination. The instructions that come with this are easy to understand, and make the installation a breeze. It is very easy to add your own code for this deadbolt. It can also have a time delay lock feature so after you close the door & it will automatically lock the deadbolt. All features are easy to use, & setup. I would recommend these to anyone for their entry doors. These are reasonably priced, & dependable. I would recommend these to anyone who wants to have the ability to give a temporary code to a guest, or contractor while retaining your own code combination. The batteries seem to last a long time, especially since there are four “AA” batteries used for this deadbolt. It’s not only functional, but it looks appealing on our door. The pictures I have included show additional door hardware that is not included. This kit includes the deadbolt itself with a battery compartment, @ a keypad, section. It also includes all the necessary hardware to install this on your door. My installation was easy because I was replacing an existing deadbolt. I have included a picture that shows the indoor door knob, that is NOT INCLUDED, with this deadbolt. I added this just to show that it can be used with an optional door knob.

Can't say enough about these locks. Changed all the exterior locks to these Kwikest power botls. The quality of the materials is very good. The re-keying feature is what initially drew my attention to this product. It is excellent without having physically change the tumblers. The programing and reprogramming of the codes is straight forward, clear and simple. Highly recommended!

Ease of installation: I am not the best nor the worst at installing things around the house. I was expecting this to be a headache, but after watching some videos, I had this one set up within an hour. Reliability: It has worked every day since installation, with one minor hiccup in the first few days, where it would not open. I ended up having to use my key in that instance. The lockout may have been caused by my child repeatedly hitting the wrong buttons as she tried to let us in. I recommend keeping the key with you as a backup. Battery life: It is still working after a few months without issue. I will update my review if it suddenly stops working. Again, keep your key with you just in case. Verdict: The Kwikset Powerbolt 250 has been a game-changer for my family, and I only wish I had thought to install one sooner. It has made getting in and out of the house way less of a pain, especially at night. The buttons light up, making fumbling for a key a thing of the past. My six-year-old daughter knows the code as well, and she enjoys opening the door for us. My wife and daughter went for a walk the other day while I worked in the backyard, and they didn't feel the need to carry their keys, knowing they could easily get back in, and I had my key in the backyard as a backup. There is a function to add a one-time code for someone making a delivery or doing work on your home, but I have not tried that yet.

Easy to install and works as expected. I’m not sure why most people would need multiple access codes, but the option is there, and the single-use codes are a nice feature. The auto-lock function has been reliable, which adds peace of mind. Overall, a straightforward and functional electronic deadbolt. If you try too many times, it does lock out which is a nice feature.

For the past 10 years, I have used similar Kwikset locks on 4 of my outside doors and they have proven very reliable. About 6 months ago, added this one to door #5 and it works just as well as the others with the added benefit of being a little smarter/easier to set up, and needing one less button to push to operate it. As well, the mechanism is noticeably faster to lock/unlock. [FYI: if you use the recommended ordinary alkaline batteries, they will last about 2 years. If you try rechargeables (like I did) they last about 2 months. I have no idea why.]

La compré en enero 2025, y todo muy bien fácil de instalar, configurar y todo, pero hace un mes dejó de funcionar, la restauré de fábrica y nada, simplemente dejó de funcionar ahora es una cerradura como cualquier otra es una pena que haya durado tan poco el gusto

Se siente muy frágil , no da mucha seguridad el tenerlo como cerradura exterior
